Bonsai Barber, The Revenge of Shinobi and City Transport Maps (EU)

medium.jpg

Zoonami's hairdressing game is finally out, and it's accompanied by Sega's awesome ninja game. Oh, and some city maps.

After skipping a week, the Official Nintendo Magazine has once again revealed the Wii/DSi updates in advance. As promised a while ago, today finally sees the European release of Bonsai Barber. Accompanying it is a single Virtual Console game and two DSiWare applications which might as well be counted as one, because they pretty much do exactly the same!

Bonsai Barber was already released in North America about half a year ago, despite being a UK-developer game. Thankfully, it's now finally available in Europe! Don't be fooled by the game's cutesy look - Cutting the "hair" of various vegetables has never been as fun as this. Plus, Nintendo themselves are publishing it - If that's not proof of awesomeness, we don't know what is! You can read what we thought of the game here.

On Virtual Console, you'll be able to download the second Shinobi game - The Revenge of Shinobi. Generally considered the best game in the series, this game has almost never been rereleased, and wasn't included in any recent Sega collections because of licensing issues - The original game featured characters like Spider-Man and the Hulk as bosses! The original Mega Drive game was reissued a few times very soon after release, with each reissue replacing some of these characters, so we really wonder which version will be the one on Virtual Console! We'll review the game soon.

DSiWare gets another two applications - City Transport Map Volumes 1 & 2 - 2009 both include maps of various European cities, which have subways, trams and other transports marked on them, so you can easily find your way around. You can also attach DSi photos to spots on the map to remind yourself what exactly is located there. At 500 DSi Points each, these will really only be useful for people who travel to other countries often - We can't imagine anyone else finding much use in them. Nevertheless, we'll review them soon.

That's all for this week! All of these will be available at the usual time tonight.

Sequel von Rage of the Gladiator möglich

gladiator.jpg

Bomberman Blast: Battlefest Coming to WiiWare

medium.jpg

Hudson has also just announced that the sequel to Bomberman Live will be hitting Xbox Live Arcade this fall and will land on the Playstation Network and WiiWare services in 2010. The WiiWare version is tentatively titled Bomberman Blast: Battlefest.

You can check out the official press information below for a taste of what you can expect from the game when it hits the WiiWare service early next year.

Ready for more? The sequel to the immensely popular downloadable game brings more action, more multiplayer fun, more powerups, more modes, more maps, more costumes, more....everything! The classic Bomberman gameplay upgrades with new features (including the fan-requested Teams gameplay!) that will have you hooked on blasting friends online or locally.

And with up to 8 players online, every match is guaranteed to be epic fun! With an array of gameplay options at your disposal, Bomberman Live: Battlefest is set to rock the house on Xbox LIVE® Arcade this Winter, and detonate on the Playstation®Network and WiiWare™ in 2010!

Teams!

Assemble the crew. It's time to bring the bombs with your buddies and prove who's got the chops to hold the Team crown! Play locally or bring the pain online; it's more fun with friends!

New Modes!

All new ways to claim your Bomberman crown! Learn more about these team-only gameplay modes and how they'll change the way you play.

VIP

Protect the VIP! Two teams of four each have one VIP on their squad. Unfortunately, the VIP is so important, they can't set any bombs! You'll have to work together to defend with your other team mates who must escort the VIP to a designated point at the other end of the arena.

Capture the Flag

The classic multiplayer game is here in full form! Both teams have a flag so both teams will need to both attack and defend their flags as well. Coordinate effectively as a team to come out on top! It's CTF, Bomberman style!

Capture the Crown
First appearing in Bomberman Blast, Capture the Crown makes a triumphant return! Players start on the edges of the arena with one crown in the middle. The player who is able to hold onto the crown the longest wins!

Bankroll
It's points for power-ups! Players earn points for bombing other players, destroying blocks, and so on. The twist? Destroying blocks rarely yields a power-up. At the end of each match, you'll trade in your points gained for power-ups in the menu in between matches. Bomb wisely!

New Powerups!

5 all-new powerups make their debut! Will the power of the Cluster Bomb be your new go-to? Or will the destructive Laser Bomb be a game-changer? Veterans need not worry as all the classic powerups return in full force! Customization options allow you to pick and choose which power-ups appear in any given arena.

New Characters!

You thought you had choices before? Bomberman 2 packs 18 new costumes in addition to the original selection from Bomberman Live! Mix and match 3 costume pieces from Napoleon Bombaparte, Chef Bombardee, Sir Bombalot, and more! Make your Bomberman your own!

New Arenas!

The Bomberman battlegrounds have changed once again, this time with more tricks, gimmicks, and fun! From Adventure Island themed landscapes to the shape-shifting MultiMaze, no battle will ever be the same!

Bonk Headbutts His Way Onto WiiWare

medium.jpg

Hudson officially announces their new WiiWare Bonk title.

We found out yesterday that Hudson was bringing their prehistoric hero to Nintendo's WiiWare service, but there was very little information made available at the time.

Hudson has just sent out the official press release announcing Bonk: Brink of Extinction today and it looks like Hudson has another exciting WiiWare release on their hands. You can check out the official press release below for more information on this upcoming WiiWare title.

After almost 15 years of hibernation on consoles, Bonk returns in a new digital download title, Bonk: Brink of Extinction. Hudson Entertainment, the North American publishing arm of HUDSON SOFT, resurrects one of their most iconic characters on Xbox LIVE® Arcade, PlayStation®Network and WiiWare™ in early 2010. The updated side scrolling adventure features next generation graphics meets retro gameplay style. With classic 2D platforming in a 3D world, Bonk: Brink of Extinction combines new enemies, collectables, downloadable content and online play for the first time in the series.

“As one of the most recognizable characters in gaming history, the return of Bonk has been widely requested by fans for years,” said Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Product Development at Hudson Entertainment. “Bonk: Brink of Extinction will delight fans as well as new gamers with its retro yet modern gameplay, updated graphics and online play!”

Bonk: Brink of Extinction is an all new downloadable adventure featuring story mode with co-op play. The loveable caveman Bonk and his huge head returns to save the world from a doomsday comet on a collision course with Earth. Meanwhile the comet’s magnetic field is driving the planet’s creatures crazy and smaller bits of debris are smashing into the jungle near Bonk's home. Bonk must swim, bite, climb, jump, run and headbutt his way through jungles, deserts and volcanic caverns while earning power ups, reaching check points and gaining extra health on a perilous journey to the very center of the planet. Bonk: Brink of Extinction also features new transformations as Bonk morphs into eight different forms by eating meat or encountering Primordial Ooze.

Initially made for NEC’s TurboGrafx-16 console in 1990, Bonk’s Adventure was a platform adventure title that earned a committed fan base and earned Game of the Year honors. Bonk’s Revenge and Bonk 3: Bonk’s Big Adventure followed up the classic title on TurboGrafx-16. Nintendo also featured Bonk in the Gameboy title also named Bonk’s Revenge and Super Bonk for the Super NES. With the introduction of the Nintendo Wii's™ Virtual Console™, Hudson brought back Bonk's Adventure as the first title available under the TurboGrafx-16 library.
