Well, in the media-create threads some interest has been expressed for more impressions given from the perspective about what's selling and what's not in the US. This thread can be used for workers to share their perspectives of what is selling and such.
my store - Target - Family City, USA
- Wii - Obviously the system, we had 25 Wiis in on Tuesday and sold every single one out in 15 minutes. Most people were picking up Mario Galaxy. Other popular choices for people buying Wii games have been Mario and Sonic, High School Musical Sing it!, Lego Star Wars, and Wii Play. Some sales for Metroid Prime 3, Mario Party 8, and Rayman: Raving Rabbids 2 also. RE: UC sold out within like 2 days of release and we have not gotten any back in since release (4 copies, I believe). Fire Emblem sold 2 of 4 since release, as well. Everybody is asking for Guitar Hero 3, but we haven't seen a restock in 5 days...
-DS - We probably average 20 DS's a day for the past week, plus the more than 50 we sold on Black Friday. People have been buying Mario Party DS as fast as we can keep them in stock. New Super Mario Bros, Zelda, and Nintendogs remain popular. Petz, Catz, Dogz, etc. games are selling well, much to my chagrin. Some sales here and there of Sonic Rush Adventure, Animal Crossing, Hannah Montana, and Bleach.
-XBox 360 - We haven't had any Premiums or Elites in for about a week now. We have plenty of Arcades and Halo Editions. Call of Duty 4 has been huge, as well as Assassin's Creed and Lego Star Wars. We have sold some Halo 3's, Mass Effect's, Madden's, and NBA 2K8's as well. We have not sold one copy of **** and *****, nor Clive Barker's Jericho. Scene it! has sold a few bundles, too. GHIII just recently came back in as a single game, but the pack has been sold out for a few days. Both the Wii and 360 versions have seen extremely high demand and interest from consumers. Rock Band sold out in minutes and we haven't seen a restock since the first 5 minutes it was out...Probably sold around 13 - 18 360's this past 7 days.
-PS3 - The 40 GB version has increased sales for the PS3, no doubt, but sales have not been spectacular. We have probably sold around 5 or 6 PS3s in the past week. Call of Duty 4, Lego Star Wars, and Assassin's Creed have seen a few sales here and there, but are shadowed by the their 360 counterparts dramatically in sales at my store. Ratchet and Clank has sold 1 copy in the past week. Guitar Hero 3 on PS3 is definitely selling the slowest. We had bundles on the shelf from a restock 4 days ago up until today. Rock Band did sell out immediately, though I don't see how Sony, if my store represents any sort of national mindshare and sales average, could be pleased with the PS3's sales, even with the new model and pricedrop.
-PSP - The PSP has been selling really well in terms of hardware. We have probably sold some 10-15 systems in the past week (if not a few more). The games aren't selling, period, but the system has sold well. No Core's in sight, though. It has all been Star Wars and Daxter bundle. One wonders, like with the lack of Elites and Premiums, where the Cores are? I haven't seen one in about 3 weeks at my work. I think the only 360 game that I saw get sold this week was Final Fantasy Tactics. We sold 3 or 4 copies, so that was pretty nice.
-PS2 - Still selling well, especially Guitar Hero 3, High School Musical, and a bunch of greatest hits games. The Ceramic White system and bundle with Singstar has sold a few systems as well, probably somewhere in the 15-20 range (not including big Black Friday sales). Most people are just buying Guitar Hero games and guitars for the PS2, though.
If, judging by my store, I had to guess what the top selling games for November would be, I would say:
1. Mario Galaxy
2. Guitar Hero III XBox 360
3. Call of Duty 4
4. Guitar Hero III PS2
5. Guitar Hero III Wiii
6. Assassin's Creed 360
7. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
8. Lego Star Wars Wii
9. Lego Star Wars 360
10. Mass Effect
Mario Party DS would probably fit in there somewhere as well.
That's pretty much how I have seen it.
