American Sk8land manages to capture a lot of the things that make the Tony Hawk series so much fun.
The Good: Great graphics; ability to add your own custom sound effects; plays a lot like the console games; cool graphics; online scoreboards.
The Bad: Longtime players might find the game a little easy; no graffiti mode.

IGN
9.0 Presentation
Tons of customization and gameplay options, cool storytelling, better Wi-Fi functions than Nintendo's own game.
9.0 Graphics
The toonshaded appearance both looks great on the DS and works around the DS system's visual limitations.
9.0 Sound
Thirty minutes of great sounding licensed music and actual voice-over work for the cutscenes brings the console experience to the handheld.
8.5 Gameplay
Classic Tony all the way still works great on the DS with some new touch screen elements. Some later challenges are stupidly easy compared to earlier ones, so the difficulty balance is a little off.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
The Wi-Fi focus, combining the DS with website functionality, brings a whole lot of opportunity for bragging rights. Shame two great Tony Hawk modes didn't make the multiplayer cut.
