My local (Northern Virginia) Microsoft store sold out in 15 minutes, which means there wasn’t much to sell. The local Best Buy sold out too, but only received one unit. The local Staples received and sold a whopping two units. Selling out on launch day doesn’t mean very much when there isn’t anything to sell in the first place.

Handelt sich aber wohl erst um das normale, aber die preise werden so schnell fallen

Das Teil wurde doch bewusst so vertrieben, wenn ich mich nicht irre, was den Preis oder die Verfügbarkeit abgeht. Da konnte es nicht wirklich ein Verkaufsschlager werden. Ich kann mich auch nicht daran erinnern, dass das Ding großartig beworben wurde, zumindestens hierzulande. Ich kenn z.B. nur diesen Windows 8-Spot, wo am Ende mal kurz was eingeblendet wird (PC, Laptop, Tablet).

Habe mir so ein Surface mal angeschaut. So verarbeitungsmäßig sind die Dinger echt top. Für mich das einzige Tablet, dass da an ein iPad rakommt. Und dieses Touchcover ist wirklich genial und funktioniert für mich beinahe so gut wie eine "echte" tastatur.
Der Screen ist hell und hat gute Blickwinkel, leider merkt man schon, dass es sich nicht um ein retinagerät handelt.

Weiterer Nachteil ist, dass der Kickstand nur in einem Winkel zulässt. Und ich finde 16:9 ist definitiv das falsche Format für Tablets. Den einzigen Vorteil den man hat ist beim Filmegucken, alles andere ist schlechter. Im Hochkantformat kann man das Gerät fast nicht benutzen.

Aber trotzdem das Gerät hat was. Allein das Touchcover.
WENN Microsoft da an den richtigen Stellen verbessert, kann das Surface 2( Falls denn eins rauskommt) ein ernsthafter iPad Konkurrent werden.

Fürs 2er wünsche ich mir dann ein leichteres Surface Pro mit Retinadisplay und längerer Akkulaufzeit

So lange es Microsoft einfach nicht schafft das Surface flächendeckend anzubieten wird das nichts. Wenn am Release Tag nichts verschickt wirst und die Geräte erst nach einem halben Jahr woanders zu bekommen sind als im Online Store dann ist das so ziemlich erbärmlich.

Bei den iPad wollen am Release Tag viel mehr Leute ein Gerät haben und Apple bekommt das besser organisiert hin. Beim Surface verhält sich Microsoft wie eine 2 Mann Bude die zum ersten mal Hardware vertreibt.

Erstmal müsste MS die nuttige billige Version rauskicken namens RT... zweitens ms hat doch bewusst so vertrieben, die wussten und haben ja längst gemerkt das da kaum ne nachfrage besteht, die führen genug studien durch, die hatten wohl gehofft mit knappheit kommt der must have eindruck besser rüber oder so.

Fürs Pro zuhoher preis da kriegt man ja schon ultrabooks mit touch einlagen...

Die nächste Generation von Surface steht kurz vor der Enthüllung; wohl passend zum Windows 8.1-Launch im Oktober.

The next generation of the Surface is already well underway with many expecting it to arrive around the launch of Windows 8.1. With the Pro being the flagship of the Surface lineup, you would expect Microsoft to up the specs from the previous iteration and that’s exactly what they have done.

The Surface 2 will run Intel’s latest line of chips, a Haswell-based Core i5, Neowin has learned from several sources. In addition, the RAM will receive a considerable bump, being doubled 4GB to 8GB. Finally, while the device will look similar to the current Pro, Microsoft has "refined" the kickstand that ships with the device. What the refinement is exactly, we don't have a clear picture yet; it could be a more robust stand that is stronger or one that offers alternative viewing angles, but this is speculation at this point.

Coming with the new Pro will be another media campaign that will again try to raise awareness about the device. Now, we know a new media campaign will launch around the time of the Surface release, but we don’t know if Microsoft will stagger the release like they did with the RT/Pro (RT arrived in October and the Pro in February).
