Das Problem bei den Szenen, die es nicht in den Film geschafft haben, ist, dass die meisten von ohnen nicht fertig sind, also noch ein riesiger Aufwand betrieben werden muss, um den ganzen CGI Kram zu implementieren.
Also da kann ich dir überhaupt garnicht zustimmen. Das hätte es sehr wohl in jeder Hinsicht besser gemacht (mit ausnahme der zusätzlichen Love-stories, aber selbst die hätten den Pocahontas-style gelindert, und der stört schon)

macht so erst richtig sinn, klar denken konnte man es sich, aber so machts wirklich sinn, auch dass jake so fasziniert von der welt is, ich mein wenns uns als kinozuschauern so geht, wie wirds da erst einem gehn der Natur nie kennengelernt hat...
Und auch der Angriff auf den Baum macht so 100000 mal mehr sinn. So er schien es einfach nur grundlos bösartig. Wenn ihnen dieses eine Vorkommen unterm Baum so wichtig wäre ohne dass sie Navis töten wollten, dann hätten sie auch Untertage abbauen können, nicht nötig den Baum so grausam abzureissen. Als brutales Zeichen macht es allerdings sinn; als solches erschien es im film auch viel eher... war überhaupt eine der szenen an denen ich mich zuvor stoßen musste, mit der Project880-Erklärung machts einfach nur sinn.
Und von wegen Dunkle Zukunftsvision #9001: Sowas sollte man schon wissen. Das macht dann ja auch den Kontrast aus. Soviele szenen, besonders die erste, wo jake ausm flugzeug rollt, machen mit der P880-Hintergrundstory soviel mehr sinn...

Anders: Der Allmächtige JamesCameron hat es SO geplant und wurde dann vom gierigen hollywood zu einer anderen ausführung "gezwungen", wagst du es IHN anzuzweifeln!?
Weiß nicht ob du mich jetzt auch ansprichst, natürlich macht im Project 880 Skript alles mehr Sinn und ich hab gerade die ersten 22 Seiten des 114 seitigen Skripts gelesen und es ist vielschichtiger und komplizierter.
Cameron hat 100% vieles geopfert um die Mittel und Technologie bewilligt zubekommen. Aber das Originalskript wäre auch viel schwieriger zuverstehen gewesen. Auch hätten die Na´vi ein anderes Sehvermögen und auch die Flora und Fauna wären nicht im bekannten Erdengrün erstrahlt.
Die Version von Avatar wie wir es bekomme haben ist ein Actiontrip in eine andere Welt, leicht zuverstehen und ausgetretenen Storypfaden. Ideal für ein Boxofficeerfolg.
Die Version von Project 880 wäre der Antikinohit, von den Kritikern storytechnisch besser bewertet, aber garantiert kein so großer Hit wie jetzt. Vlt. hab ich da auch nur Vorurteile gegenüber großen Teilen der Kinobesuchern.
Ändern können wir es nicht und nur hoffen dass ein Extended Cut die Lücken füllt und ein reicheres Storygeflecht entfaltet.
Nope, ich verstehe euren Standpunkt, aber ich kann zu 0% zustimmen. Avatar ist für mich ein perfektes Märchen, ohne die ganzen Änderungen wäre das "nur" ein guter Scifi Film. Das letzte Mal das ich mich über eine so dürftige Story gefreut habe war in "Shoot 'Em Up". Der Film wusste was er sein wollte, und hat dies auch zu 100% durchgezogen, ohne eine hahnebüchene Ernsthaftigkeit da reinzuzwingen. In Avatar ist das ähnlich, und ich finde ehrlich gesagt das die Project 880 Story komplexer und besser ist, aber sonderlich komplex oder gut finde ich die trotzdem nicht. Nur um ne schlechte Story durch ne mittelmäßige zu ersetzen sollte man nicht den perfekten Achterbahntrip aufgeben, der Avatar jetzt ist.
Also die Na´vi sollen auch hier als Arbeitskraft in den Minen eingesetzt werden.

The cloned avatar has the body structure and physiology of a Pandoran native. However, adding the human genes necessary to create the mental linking ability to the avatar's genetic makeup altered the anatomy to the extent of producing five digits (different from the normal four on a Na'vi) on the hands and feet, the loss of the Na'vi opposable “thumb toe”, and reducing the size of the eyeballs. Avatars also retain several minor human characteristics such as eyebrow hair. The reason for this is not yet known.
Last night I saw Avatar for the second time. It has been three decades since I lined up to repeatedly watch a film. It has three decades since I had that exhilarating feeling of the absolutely new. Watching Avatar again I was trying to find the flaws I kept hearing about. Yeah, some of the lines of dialogue were corny and obvious. But since I already knew they were coming, and since I already knew the plot hovered closely to Dances with Wolves, those details were taken off the table. I sunk into the love story. I looked more closely at the meticulous details of the natural world of Pandora. I never felt cheated. I always felt like I was right there with Jake. He was my avatar, bringing me back into the alternate world and I never wanted to pulled back out, just like he didn’t. Every scene in the film is majestic and enthralling.
Perhaps that is why the ending of Avatar comes too soon. The second viewing for me was not in a theater you’d expect to respond to the movie. I have never been to that theater and heard it go so quiet – Cameron had this audience in the palm of his hand. They were stunned by what they were experiencing. It wasn’t just that the effects are so mind-blowing; it was that the story was holding them all the way through until the end where they clapped. It is the magic of cinema plain and simple. It isn’t going to change the world and it isn’t going to forever alter one’s identity. It isn’t even going to send home the message that one must “get busy living or get busy dying,” as many of the films do this year. But it is the work of a genius.
At the same time, it doesn’t take away from the other films that are equally good for different reasons. The thing that makes Avatar different is that movies like this simply don’t get made but for every once in several decades. Those who were bored or uninterested, or who felt that the story was weak and the movie bad — I get it, I do. I just know, though, that we have different reasons for going to the movies. I’d forgotten what it felt like to see a movie that I never wanted to end. I’d forgotten that there was a time when being in that dark theater, drifting off to another world, was far preferable to life outside and that pulling away from it almost hurts. I’d forgotten it was possible to experience something that sensational.
Most of the time movies take from me more than give back. They take my time and they take my money. Most of the time, I feel like I was tricked into watching such a terrible, mediocre, dumbed down story – especially movies aimed at kids. Because they’re afraid to do anything risky the stores are designed to appeal across the board. Thus, they are generic and forgettable. Even many of the films that are really pretty good require effort on my part. I don’t mind it because, in my ways, movies are my life. But it is extremely rare to go in and see a movie, start to finish, that gives back way more than it takes. I felt nourished, satisfied, entertained after walking out of Avatar. The only thing about it I don’t understand is why everyone doesn’t feel the same way.
Das mit den Fingern is mir schon im Kino aufgefallen, das mit den augen erschien mir irgendwie so, das mit den augenbrauen hab ich überhaupt nicht bemerkt... Mhhh, tolles universum, davon wär ein MMO recht nett oder irgendwas anderes erlebbares. ICH BRAUCH MEHR STOFF!

- Earth scenes aren't that long, they are part of a brief introductory.
- Earth scenes consisted of: street shot and Jakes apartment (mentioned by Cameron) along with a barfight and an alley outside the bar where the corp guys originally approach Jake.

Jup Film war super. Muss ihn aber unbedingt nochmal im Kino sehen. Mal schauen vlt. zum Wochenende.
Ich kann auch kaum noch meine Amazonbestellung abwarten. Artbook, Survival Guide und das Scrapbook kommen Mitte Januar. Hab bislang auch von den Büchern nur Gutes gehört.
Naja, weil das ein film is der sich ohne 3D um ein vielfaches weniger auszahlt... anders: weil es ein film is bei dem es sich WIRKLICH auszahlt im kino zu sehen. Und weil ich schon so in die Welt von Pandora "reingekippt" bin, ich will dorthin zurück...
Hoffentlich gibts am ende der Trilogie so ein Kinofeature wie bei StarWars oder LotR, bei dem man sich nochmal alle Filme hintereinander anschaut...
Ich kann nur für mich sprechen, aber der Film ist einfach ein Abenteuertrip in eine andere Welt, wie man es die letzten Jahre oder besser ich selbst noch nicht erlebt habe. In 3D macht der Film auch noch eine verdammt gute Figur und wer weiß wann ich ihn wieder in solcher Pracht erleben darf.
Ein weiterer Grund ist, dass ich einen Kinogutschein zu Weihnachten bekommen hab und der schreit danach noch für Avatar verwendet zu werden.

Boah da hoff ich dann aber, dass schon die Kinos so modernisiert sind, dass ich dann ohne 3D Brille auskomme, da schon nach den 2 1/2 Stunden mein Nasenrücken leicht beschwerte mit einer Druckstelle.
War ich nicht im richtigen 3D-Kino? Imax - Cinecitta... ich fands in 3D nun nicht viel besser... es war halt dieses typische 3D-Effekt wie in anderen Filmen auch...
Hä? Ich habs normal auch nicht gesehen, aber hab ab und zu mal ohne 3D-Brille geschaut, war zwar etwas unscharf, aber es ging... hab keine Riesenunterschiede ausmachen können.
