Nintendo and Silicon Knights
"Matt responds: Sorry to upset everybody. That wasn't my intention. I have to admit that as a huge Nintendo fan this seems like disappointing news. But as a fan of videogames in general it could be a wise move. We speculated on this in our article, but it is the truth: Silicon Knights and Nintendo have two very different ideas about the future of the games business. SK president Denis Dyack gets along very well with Nintendo's higher-ups, including Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata, but that doesn't mean they share the same ideas about the elements that need to be considered to make great software. In the end, I believe SK wanted more creative freedom and the ability to make the titles it really wanted to. That said, the decision to end the second-party relationship was entirely mutual. Both companies have a great amount of respect for one another despite their differences.
Do I think we'll see Silicon Knights' software on a Microsoft or Sony platform? I would say definitely and without a doubt. The not-so-hidden message behind this news is that Silicon Knights is going to make software for other systems and it's really that simple. That does not mean that it won't also develop for GameCube or even make multiple SKUs for several different consoles. And then again, it doesn't mean that it will ever make a Nintendo title again, either. It only means that it has the option of developing for the system of its choice.
Whether or not Silicon Knights makes more GameCube titles, I don't know. Right now my feeling is that it won't -- at least not immediately. I think it will instead plug away on one of its concepts, of which I hope one is Too Human, and eventually partner with a publisher. In the end, what systems its games appear on will probably depend most upon the publisher it chooses to go with.
I asked Denis directly if SK would retain the rights to Eternal Darkness or Too Human and he said he could not comment yet. But if the company does with away with those franchises then we'll probably see an ED sequel and Too Human on one or more systems at one point in the future."

edit: es ist doch erst ein verlust, wenn ein SK titel NICHT mehr auf einer Nintendo Konsole erscheint.(sondern exklusiv auf PS2/3 , Xbox....)
