Business as usual.
e:
This.
Night time looks fucking amazing. It was like being chased by police in GTAV. If the police were free-running crack fiends.
The zombies aren't scary visually but are super strong and super agile. They have vision cones on your radar - you can 'sneak' past them and make efforts to stay out of sight. Your radar quickly fills up with hundreds of them. It was a lot like what State of Decay should have been.
If they see you they'll alert all the others with a massive scream, and even on 'Normal' difficulty you will be dead if they catch you. You have to run like shit to escape them and try to get to a safe zone.
This alone convinced me to buy the game. Imma be trying to survive the night ALL THE TIME
Day and Night. During the day there can be a lot of zombie on your ass, but they move slow, are easy to get by, and can be dangerous in numbers. I've seen at least 20+ zombies on the screen at once if not more. At night, the more wild and crazy zombies appear and they can haul ass after you. There is nothing like hitting the button to look back and see a group of zombies chasing after you in slow motion as game then resumes normal play. I'd say the mechanics of the night and day system work well and it can be really scary at night if hordes of enemies relentlessly chasing you make you nervous.
Running away at night is damn scary. The UV flashlight barely slows those guys down. Can't wait till I'm more agile and unlock some cooler moves.
but the game just feels homemade in all the right ways. The world feels totally real and believable, and just getting to chill in this gritty, nightmarish, beautiful eastern-European town is a thrill in and of itself.
This game is hella intense during the first night. Really enjoying it.
Jesus Christ night time is intense.
It is isn't it. Its like you see the sun setting and start getting nervous. Only other game that comes near it was the old master Dragons Dogma but I think this game beats it.
First night mission was nuts after all my weapons broke and I was scrounging looking for stuff to repair.
Most tense moment in a game in a long time.
I love this game.
Daytime is fun exploration with occasional zombie killing, parkour and crafting. Explore, craft, hoard stuff, and prepare for the night. During night... oooh my. During the night all the nasty stuff comes out. Insane panicky survival with occasional stealth if you escape the hordes.
"Dead Island, but better, combined with Mirrors Edge" is a fairly nice way of describing this.
Finding that first crate after nightfall... Had 4 or 5 of the monster zeds on my ass, blindly running toward the orange dot. A prompt comes up "x to activate light trap". I hadn't set of any light traps prior to that so I had no idea what to expect.. Light cuts on, monsters start smoking. I turn and start swinging my shitty gas pipe. Knocked one into spikes, clubbed two other to death and kept running.
This game gets intense.
Kudos, Techland, I love your game!
First of all i love the first person parkour system, especially as you progress and learn the system it makes so much fun.
I was kinda disappointed by the combat system at the start because you don't have many abilities and stamina gets rare pretty quick, especially with multiple enemies. As you unlock new skills like jumping on zombies or drop kicking them combat becomes a lot more fun. Game runs pretty good on my PS4 only had one fps slowdown yet. Also Night time is pretty intense. Really enjoying it so far.
You get your ass kicked of they catch you, but they double your agility to run about like a madman. Its insane.
Plus if you hold triangle it looks behind you and slows down time. Its great.
Night time is great. You'll have to sneak otherwise superzombies will fuck you up, always good to have the UV flash/flares ready aswell. It's completely dark in some places if you don't have your flash light on. You can always go to a safezone and sleep if you don't want to play night time.
Wooo night time is terrifying, this shit's intense
What's so bad about the night time portion?
Nothing is bad, its actually quite the opposite for me. Gets the heart beating as zombies become far more difficult and you get super zombies as well.
It turns you into a wobbly, crying baby.
