I picked this game up today on a whim and I'm glad I did. I'm only on the 4th mission, but so far, the ride has been cool and very awesome. If you're a fan of Shenmue or Time Crisis, you'll like this game. The combat sequences are a tribute to Time Crisis with the Z button used for ducking out of the way. Combat is fast and satisfying which is a surprise because I wasn't too impressed looking at the gameplay videos, but being a lightgun fan myself, I thought it was well done. Contrary to belief, these do get harder. Just finished up a boss fight and it was pretty tough.
I don't know if I want to go into the premise of the game since other people and outlets are doing that now. I do, however, want to chime in with an opinion on it as there may be people wondering how it plays. Basically, it's a collection of QTEs, Time Crisis shooting sections, exploration, and a couple mini-games here and there. I've only come across one driving scene and it was fairly simple, my guess is that there will be more and they'll be harder. Even though the gameplay is varied, I think the execution is nice. The graphics are good. The sound is top notch and the game feels like they put a lot of time and money into it. That said, the cheese level is high, but no one should go into something like this and not expect otherwise.
Like other people have said, Disaster Day of Crisis has that "blockbuster" feel to it. The opening cutscene intro section is long. Maybe 20 minutes or something like that. My wife wanted me to keep playing so she could see what was going to happen next in the story. It's surprisingly well told and you grow to like the main character. He's a good guy caught up in some crazy stuff.
