Senior Motherboard Design Engineer
This position is for an Electrical Engineer to be part of the Xbox game console development team. The team is responsible for the design and aggressive cost reduction of the console throughout the life of the product as well as expanding the market for the console in derivative products. The position involves working closely with industrial designers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, test engineers, component engineers, and program managers.
The responsibilities of this position are focused on specifying, designing (schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM, cost analysis), implementing and verifying subsystems on the Xbox motherboard. This includes development of subsystem requirements by working with team members evaluating different solution options for functionality, cost and risk, developing the solution, implementing it, verifying it and supporting it in production.
The subsystems on the motherboard include (but are not limited to): High speed busses (memory bus, PCIe bus, SATA bus, USB bus, I2S, etc.), memory, Ethernet, audio/video, system clocking, power and thermal management, and misc. analog/digital circuitry on the Motherboard. This requires the ability to quickly learn, analyze and implement new interfaces and subsystems, break down complex issues and collaborate across cross-functional teams to resolve issues in a timely manner. Must be able to plan work and work to a plan, adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum BS/MS in Electrical Engineering.
- A solid understanding of core engineering principles, circuit design and analysis is required.
- 10-12 years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping products of medium to high complexity.
- Prior design and implementation, familiarity with PC, embedded system architectures hardware and software, experience with implementation of high speed serial busses (SATA, PCIe, USB) and/or high speed parallel busses such as: memory bus (DDR3, GDDR3, etc.).
- Design for manufacturing and test experience is required
- Strong bench evaluation and in-lab debugging skills are required.
- Strong communication skills and must be able to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms.
- Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven.
- Knowledge of high volume consumer electronics design and manufacturing is desired.
- Domestic and international travel will be required.

Fazit:
Wenn man davon ausgeht, dass es sich bei beiden Stellen um die Entwicklung der neuen XBOX handelt, halte ich, auch ausgehend von den von mir seit einiger Zeit eingestellten Angeboten, 2012 für durchaus realistisch.
Die Entwicklung scheint mEn schon sehr fortgeschritten.
