Tranmere
Rovers manager Les Parry has confirmed to talkSPORT that young forward Dale Jennings is likely to complete a transfer to Bayern Munich in the coming weeks.
The 18-year-old starlet was released as a youngster at
Liverpool but has blossomed at Prenton Park under the tutelage of Parry.
And after being long admired by the German giants it appears he could finally make the switch to the Bavarian side.
Parry said: “As we all know with transfers nothing is definite but the negotiations are advanced. [Bayern Munich] have made a written offer to us which is not a million miles away from what we’re looking for so I’d say the chances are he’s going to go.
“We rejected a bid from a Premier League side in January and this time round there has been no other concrete offers from clubs in this country.
“I spoke to him today and I asked him how much is his heart set on going and he said he wants to go, it’s a massive club and he really fancies the challenge.
“If he’s going with that attitude he stands half a chance [of being a success] doesn’t he.”
Asked if he though Jennings had the potential to play for England one day, Parry replied: “He’s certainly got that inherent ability, his ability with the ball at his feet is phenomenal, he needs to improve when he hasn’t got the ball at his feet, which you can say for a hell of a lot of players but I think that comes with age.
“If he got everything together and got that side to his game I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t go on and play at that sort of level.”
The Tranmere boss also believes that Jennings’ story should be held and told to all young footballers who don’t make the grade first time round.
Parry added: “It is an example for lads starting again, especially ones who start at the really big clubs and don’t make it. I think it also shows that parents and the young lads should be looking at the smaller clubs because they’re going to play league football and they’re going to get noticed.”
