Earlier today it was discovered that former WWE performer Andrew 'Test' Martin had died after being found in his apartment.

Martin, a native of Whitby, Ontario got his start through Bret Hart and training at the Hart House in Calgary with both Hart and Leo Burke. He first got the attention of the WWE by attending a post show party in Toronto at the Planet Hollywood restaurant where he was able to convince security at the door that he was one of the wrestlers and that got into the party and introduced himself to Hart and Carl DeMarco.After training in Calgary, he was sent to Dory Funk Jr. in Florida as part of the Funkin' Dojo.

Martin would make his WWE debut in November 1998 during a live Motley Crue concert on "Raw" and was introduced as the band's security guard "Test". Martin was quickly linked with The Corporation (a faction led by Vince McMahon) with big plans scheduled for Martin during his run.

His biggest push came in the summer of 1999 where he was paired with Stephanie McMahon in an on air romance, which eventually led to Stephanie turning heel on him when she married Triple H in storyline. The ball was really dropped at that point as all logic pointed to a Triple H Vs Test program, but instead the company decided to put Vince McMahon in the 'knight in shining armor' role and headlined the December 12th 1999 "Armageddon" Pay Per View against Triple H and Test was placed back in the mid card and basically booked to forget about the whole Stephanie McMahon angle.

In 2000 he mainly teamed with Matt Bloom (then Prince Albert and later just Albert) as "T & A" until they broke up in early 2001.

In 2001 he was pushed as a singles heel and joined The Alliance during the invasion storyline. This led to one of the best matches of his career at the November 18th 2001 "Survivor Series" where he lost to Edge and later that night won a battle royal to save his job in storyline.

In 2002 he joined The UnAmericans group along with Lance Storm and Christian and climaxed for Martin with a Pay Per View match with The Undertaker at that year's "SummerSlam" event in Long Island, New York, which was booked to get 'Taker over strong to set him up for the next two months of main events with WWE champion Brock Lesnar on Pay Per View.

After that gimmick he was paired with real life girlfriend at the time, Stacey Keibler, and teamed with Scott Steiner, which quickly led to a feud between the two in 2003.

Martin was released by the WWE in November 2004 under very controversial terms as he was let go while he was recovering from neck fusion surgery and Martin was bitter over the release.

He would return to the company in July 2006 as part of the ECW brand and was pushed very strong on that show and positioned as a main event heel in ECW. He would headline two straight months of Pay Per Views with a spot in the Elimination Chamber at the less than spectacular "December to Dismember" Pay Per View in December 2006 and then wrestled ECW champion Bobby Lashley for the title at the January 2007 "Royal Rumble". Martin failed a drug test in February of that year and was released the following week, with Martin saying he requested to be released (it was only his first failure and was technically only subject to a 30 day suspension by the company).

He had a very brief stint in TNA as "The Punisher" Andrew Martin and worked the August 2007 "Hard Justice" event where he teamed with Sting & Abyss to defeat Christian Cage & A.J Styles & Tomko. Martin was released just days later with the company not overly impressed with his work and fearful of what he may have been taking to achieve the look he had (this was right after the Chris Benoit murders and there was a lot of heat on the topic at this time).

Since leaving TNA Martin has only been semi active in the wrestling world doing a few tours for Nu Wrestling Evolution and working in Japan, where he was booked by Leon "Vader" White.

Martin was 33 years old and was set to turn 34 this Tuesday. No cause of death is known as of yet.

Ja der Thread war tot ;-). Deswegen hab ich meinen kleinen WM Report auch als Blog verfasst und nicht hier gepostet. Sharky war ja auch in Houston wie ich aber erst danach erfahren hab.

Kurz gesagt: Der ganze Trip mit allen Shows bei denen ich war, war geil ohne Ende. WM selbst konnte mit HBK vs. Taker mit einem der besten WM Matches aller Zeiten überzeugen.

Seit Mittwoch bin ich auch schon wieder für WM26 angemeldet :-) Werden das ganze mit ner 14 tägigen USA Rundreise verknüpfen. Los Angeles -> Las Vegas -> Phoenix (WM26). Ein Kumpel der auch schon in Orlando war und nächstes Jahr zu seiner dritten WM fährt hat mich gewarnt. Das macht absolut süchtig :lol:
 
Sehr cool. Würde auch mal gerne ne echte Show live sehen. War vor 2 Jahren bei ne Houseshow in Bremen. Taker-HBK war EPIC!

Aber WM konnte mich ansonsten vorm TV nicht vom Hocker reißen. Der ME war sogar relativ crap...
 
Beim ME war es auch sehr still im Stadion. Nach HBK/Taker und den Auftritt von stone cold war die Begeisterung der Fans ziemlich im Keller.

War wirklich etwas zu sehr auf die "Faces" ausgelegt. Cena durfte bei WM schnell mal Champ werden, damit er den Titel bei Backlash gleich wieder verliert. Wir haben uns am Abend nach WM noch mit par amerikanischen Fans unterhalten und da kam von vielen die Aussage das WM25 zu den besten gehörte.

Aber bei ner Mania oder sogar schon bei ner RAW Show in den USA zu sein, kannst du wirklich nicht mit ner Houseshow vergleichen. Die Atmo ist bei ersteren um Welten besser.

Wenn du übrigens Interesse hast mal für Wrestling in die USA zu fliegen...

Danke für die Infos. Das steht zu Zeit bei meinem Budget leider nicht zur Debatte. Aber vielleicht irgendwann mal. ; )

Ich fand Backlash wrestlerisch ehrlich gesagt um einiges besser als WM. Was mich richtig angekotzt hatte war, dass sie JoMO&Miz gegen die Clowns rausgeschnitten haben (Ja, ich mag die Colons nicht). Hab mich darauf gefreut. JoMo ist atm mein absoluter fave.
 
Ja. Da hatte wohl vorher einer nicht bedacht, das Kid Rock für seinen Auftritt auch 10 Min. braucht. Das Match der beiden bei RAW nach WM fand ich auch ehrlich gesagt besser.

Backlash und Judgement Day fand ich beides sehr gute PPVs. Wenn man mal bei JD das absolut peinliche Match Cena vs. Big Show weglässt.

Y2J vs. Mysterio war Legendär ;-)

Hätte nicht gedacht das die Trennung von JoMo/Miz den beiden so gut bekommt. JoMo in seinen letzten single Matches absolut überzeugend und Miz bekommt vielleicht bald ne kleine Fehde mit Cena. Seine verbalen Attacken gegen ihn waren auf alle Fälle schon mal ganz großes Kino.
 
Ich hoffe nur das Miz nicht verjobbt wird. Cena gegen Big Show war ein Witz. Cena ist aber im allgemeinen ein Witz in den letzten Wochen. Als er bei dem Raw nach Backlash in die Halle kam wie ein verletzter Held war ich kurz vorm kotzen. Dass er dann noch eben easy Big Show fertig macht bei JD, war der Witz schlechthin.

Der Kampf von JoMo & Miz gegen Clowns bei Raw war echt gut. Die Shooting Star auf die Lumberjacks war einfach hammer.
 
The Miz ist so im Augenblick für mich einer der Gründe Raw überhaupt anzuschauen.
Ansonsten ist die Sendung so langweilig geworden. Traurig.
Allein schon, wie lahm Orton geworden ist. Dass fängt schon damit an, dass er gefühlte 5 Minuten braucht, um zum Ring zugehen.

Aber schön, dass es Miz gibt und er genau das sagt, was ich über Cena denke.

RAW ist für mich momentan auch die langweiligste der 3 Shows. Nach dem Draft hat das eigentlich nicht so ausgesehen. Die Show am Montag mit diesem Lakers vs. Nuggets Gimmick fand ich mit Abstand die schlechteste seit langem.

Was denkt ihr eigentlich über das geplannte Comeback von Ric Flair?

Ein Jahr nach seinem grandiosen Abschied, wieder in nen WWE Ring zu steigen, auch wenn er es finanziell momentan wirklich gebrauchen kann, finde ich absolut mies. Absolut unglaubwürdig.
 
So gestern also einen PPv extreme nennen der so extrem ist das man bei manchen matches einschläft. Cool war das leiter Match von edge und jeff. Und ein paar andere waren auch nicht schlecht. Aber schlecht war batista gegen Orton und cena gegen show Gähn.
Ach ja und Umaga wurde entlassen nach dem PPv hat vince eigentlich noch verstand. zurzeit wünsche ich mir das Tna mal aufholt damit Vince wieder hart arbeiten muss um erfolg zu haben.
 
Das waren noch Zeiten als man unter "Extreme" noch brennende Tische, Stacheldraht und Blut ohne Ende verstand.

Die ganze familiennfreundliche Schiene, die WWE momentan fährt, nervt mich doch etwas.
 
Ich frag mich eh, was ECW als Brand bei der WWE zu suchen hat. Da ist nix extrem und der Titel ist einfach nur eine extreme Enttäuschung, denn er dient als Abspeißung für Wrestler die meist eigentlich ziemlich gut sind (okay, der derzeitige Champ ist schon weit über seinen Zenit), aber irgendwie nicht als MEs eingesetzt werden, wahrscheinlich weil die WWE sparen will.
Mit ECW hat das nix mehr zu tun.

Mitsuharu Misawa - einer der größten Stars des japanischen Wrestlings ist ausgerechnet wärend eines Matches verstorben. Von seiner Popularität her konnte man ihn wohl mit Fug und Recht als so etwas wie den Hulk Hogan des japanischen Wrestlings bezeichnen... wenn den Hulk Hogan jemals das Talent oder die Technik von Misawa erreicht hätte. Ich hoffe das auch die Liga Pro Wrestling NOAH nicht auch noch den Bach herunter geht (zumal Wrestling auch in Japan stark an Popularität eingebüßt hat), da es die Liga ohne ihn nie gegeben hätte.

MISAWA PASSES AWAY AFTER BACKDROP IN HIROSHIMA MATCH

Mitsuharu Misawa, one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all-time, was declared dead at 10:10 p.m. Saturday night at a hospital in Hiroshima from an apparent heart attack after being being given a back suplex in a tag team title match.

Misawa would have turned 47 on June 18th.

Misawa, the president of Pro Wrestling NOAH, was teaming with Go Shiozaki in a match challenging Bison Smith & Akitoshi Saito for the GHC tag team championship in Hiroshima. Misawa was given the move at about 8:45 p.m. and knocked unconscious. They were about 27 minutes into the match when the referee immediately stopped the match seeing what had happened.

According to eye witness reports, Saito gave Misawa a "routine" back suplex that was described as a "7" in danger on a scale of one-to-ten. He did not get up. It was chaos in the ring as they attempted to revive him using CPR and the crowd was hushed for a while, and began a "Misawa" chant. He turned purple in the ring and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

His heart stopped beating in the ring.

The wrestlers were told on the bus that he had passed away.

While it is being reported that he passed away at the hospital, he may have actually passed away in the ring.

Misawa was the Japanese high school national wrestling champion at 187 pounds in 1980, and was recruited by Giant Baba into All Japan Pro Wrestling. He gained his first taste of stardom in 1984 when he was chosen to be the second Tiger Mask. After unmasking in 1990, he became an even bigger star after a series of singles matches with Jumbo Tsuruta.

He was Japan's biggest pro wrestling star of the 90s, and one could make a strong case for him as the top wrestler of the decade. He was the Wrestler of the Year in 1995, 1997 and 1999.

After the death of Shohei "Giant" Baba, Misawa wrestled a little over one more year for All Japan Pro Wrestling, while working as company president. After consistently butting heads with owner Motoko Baba, the widow of Shohei Baba, he and 90% of the All Japan roster quit the company to form Pro Wrestling NOAH.

The movie "The Wrestler" opened tonight in Japan. Because of the finish of the movie, this has become part of the story in some outlets in Japan.

Hab es gestern auch erfahren und war ziemlich schockiert. Misawa war in Japan und unter Fans des japanischen Wrestlings eine echte Legende.

Kaum zu fassen, dass jemand sein Leben lang alles fürs Wrestling riskiert und dann bei einem "Routinemanöver" ums Leben kommt.

aber cm punk hats allen gezeigt, geile aktion :D


und am montag...xD is das eigtl gespielt das trump raw kauft? ich mein sind die besitzverhältnisse an den brands auch gespielt?

triple H wurde wohl nur zurückgeholt weil sich batista verletzt hat.
hoffe das orton jetzt nich wieder 10000 jahre den titel hält....hätte mir mal was neues gewünscht, statt triple h gegen orton....

mal schaun wie the bash wird.

Das Trump RAW gekauft hat ist natürlich nur Storyline.

Was momentan bei RAW abläuft ist wirklich nicht sehr interessant. Orton/HHH *gähn*. Mit Orton und seiner Legacy wird einfach zuviel Potential verschenkt. Aber so richtige Alternativen zu Trips seh ich momentan im Titelkampf bei RAW nicht.

Smackdown ist momentan einfach die A-Show.
