Duck hunting game flying to Wii
A duck hunting game's heading to Nintendo's Wii, only it's not a revival of the Big N's classic franchise.
March 25, 2007 - Newly-founded game developer, Detn8 Games, has announced that it's developing Ultimate Duck Hunting for Nintendo's Wii, and it'll be its first game to be released when it hits in June.
The game's promised to be a realistic hunting simulation that features both shooting and retrieving, and players will be able to choose a Labrador retriever, and train him to respond to their commands - all via motions using the Wii remote.
Gearing up with guns, players will then head off into the wilderness to set up decoys, use duck calls, and ultimately become a crack shot using the Wii remote to aim and fire at tough-to-down mallard, hen, black, and teal ducks.
The Wii remote plays a major role in Ultimate Duck Hunting, said Jeff Hill, VP at Detn8 Games. Obviously, its the perfect device for aim-and-shoot and commanding your dog with Wii remote motion adds to the immersion in the simulation.
The game will feature four modes of play, with Single Hunt, where players score points by shooting a required number of ducks; Career Mode, with hunting over several seasons, where players create a hunter and a dog, improving the canine by earning additional points; Multiplayer Mode, where two players compete head-to-head on a split screen; and Training Mode, a mini-game for training the dog.
Six different American environments will be on offer for players to explore, including Stuttgart (Arkansas), Oacoma (South Dakota), Oak Island (Minnesota), Old Harbor (Alaska), Coldwater (Mississippi), and Halifax (Virginia).
Ultimate Duck Hunting arrived on PC last year, and unfortunately, it carries a GameRankings average ratio of 43% - based on reviews by the three media outlets who were daring enough to touch it.
