July 27, 2005 - Nintendo's own 2005 Fusion Tour, a mix of games, music and sweaty teens, will launch on September 28 in Detroit. By the time it wraps up on November 23, the Fusion Tour will have rocked some 40 states. As in years past, each concert will feature a series of game stations rigged to play Nintendo's latest offerings.
This year, the event will focus on the highly anticipated GameCube title, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the newest games for the Nintendo DS handheld. What's more, the latest incarnation of the Game Boy Advance, the GBA Micro, will be on display.
"We're giving both music and video game fans an incredible fusion of entertainment," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications."
This year, Fall Out Boy will headline the tour and join the bands The Starting Line, Motion City Soundtrack, Boys Night Out and Panic! At the Disco.
"We've been fans of Nintendo since the days of Excitebike and Kid Icarus," said Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy. "We are excited to be a part of the Nintendo Fusion Tour because of the diverse offerings it gives our fans. While they check the bands out, they also get the chance to check out some new video games. Besides, we have all always been video game nerds anyway."
Of special note, Nintendo will run an exclusive contest during the Fusion Tour for attendees to win a limited-edition, Nintendo Fusion Tour-branded Game Boy Micro.
Stay tuned for more.
