The latest set of Tokyo Xanadu screenshots introduce newly revealed supporting characters Towa and Sousuke Kokonoe, who main character Kou Tokisawa’s cousin and grandfather, respectively.
Get the details below.
Towa Kokonoe (voiced by Ai Nonoka)
23 years old. A new teacher who’s petite and junior high school-like in appearance, as well as main character Kou’s cousin. She’s the hardworking type in charge of teaching mathematics and data processing.
Though she’s new, she’s suddenly entrusted with a class of second year students, and serves as committee advisor and grade chief counselor. School officials trust her thanks to her extraordinary ability.
On the weekends, she helps her grandfather Sousuke as a shrine maiden at the Kokonoe Shrine, and also teaches Kokonoe-style jujitsu at the dojo.
Towa usually calls her cousin Kou-kun, but has to call him Tokisawa-kun at school given that she’s a teacher. But sometimes she’ll slip up and get teased by those around her.
Sousuke Kokonoe (voiced by Takayuki Sugo)
70 years old. Towa’s grandfather and a priest at the Kokonoe Shrine. He’s also Kou’s grandfather on his mother’s side of the family. Although he has a strict air about him, he’s actually calm and playful.
He’s the head of the family Kokonoe-style jujitsu, which has been passed down from generation to generation, and is a proven martial artist. Prior to Kou’s admission to high school, he taught his grandson martial arts.
He often praises his hardworking granddaughter, Towa, but often comes down hard on Kou who is just doing part-time jobs. That said, he cares deeply for his grandchildren.
Kokonoe Shrine
The shrine where Kou’s grandfather Sousuke is priest, as well as a shrine historic in western Tokyo.
It may be an old-fashioned shrine surrounded by trees, but it’s affiliated with the “Murakumo Grand Shrine” that is connected with over 100 branches throughout the country and is a beloved sacred spot of the people who live in the area.
At the edge of the shrine premises is the Kokonoe House, where Sousuke lives with his granddaughter Towa, as well as a dojo where students can be found studying Kokonoe-style jujitsu.
Tokyo Xanadu is due out for PS Vita in Japan on September 30.
