A trio of new girls introduced for Natsuiro High School

This week’s issue of Famitsu comes with a small preview for Natsuiro High School: Seishun Hakujo, D3 Publisher’s PS3 and PS4 open world high school adventure game, detailing three new girls in the cast, as well as lightly divulging some new details on the gameplay mechanics.

First up, the new girls. For starters, there’s Naomi Thunders (voiced by Kei Shindou), the blonde-haired girl on the right page up above. The head of the cheerleading club, she’s a foreign exchange student originally from Florida and although she can speak Japanese decently, she has a hard time with reading and writing in it. While not particularly tall, she makes up for it with her highly fashionable appearance.

Then there’s Hikaru Yukimura (voiced by Yoshino Nanjou), the dark blue-haired girl directly under Naomi. A star track and field athlete, she’s one of the protagonist’s classmates. In her middle school years, she made it to a national track and field meet, but got injured and is as such working her way back to the top. She has a tomboyish personality going for her.

Finally, Ranko Kooriyama (voiced by Miho Arakawa), the light blue-haired girl next to Hikaru, is a girl that players meet while out investigating a story with Yayoi. Though she has a dainty appearance about her, she doesn’t command a lot of attention. But, she’s a bit quirky, as she claims to be able to talk to a certain “Mr. Fairy.”

Complimenting the reveal of these three girls is, naturally, a small explanation on how the information gathering and dating systems work in the game. Over the course of the game, players will see some characters with exclamation marks over their heads, which indicates that they’ll be posed with a decision to make when talking with them. In the case of the girls working at the journalism club, this will often mean choosing whether or not to accompany them as their photographer as they set out to gather more material for their upcoming culture festival presentation.

Should players choose to accompany the girls, they’ll be able to freely wander around together. Nevertheless, there’s still the expectation that work will get done, meaning that players will have to go out and find people who have the information the girls are looking for. Still, it’s possible to wander outside the school grounds and wander around the rest of the island, too, and visiting the right spots could mean that the occasion transitions from work to a right proper date. As such, how things fare while out and about will affect character relationships going forward.

Natsuiro High School: Seishun Hakujo is due out in Japan in 2015 for PS3 and PS4.

First look at Metropolis Defenders

Famitsu has gone up with its online preview for Zettai Geigeki Wars: Metropolis Defenders, Acquire’s newly announced strategy game for PS3 and PS Vita.

(When it first leaked from Weekly Famitsu, Japanese blogs didn’t list a PS3 version. Famitsu’s online preview confirms the game’s multiplatform release.)

Zettai Geigeki Wars: Metropolis Defenders Zettai Geigeki Wars: Metropolis Defenders

Metropolis Defenders puts players at the helm of a fortress city surrounded by rings. Each ring can be rotated like a turntable, and when an enemy appears, players have to turn the rings so that fortified positions can properly ward it off. In between defense phases, there is also a development phase that allows players to construct and strengthen the city’s armaments.

Below are a look characters Lovelock, who is in charge of guns control, and Touwa, the deputy commander.

Lovelock (voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga) is described as a 24 year-old arms commander with a hot-headed personality and the weapons to back it up. Hardly the smartest person around, he exhibits a go-getter attitude no matter what he’s up to and is somehow always able to come away from most anything feeling like it turned out okay in the end. He has a fondness for Gadgets and is constantly asking himself about the true nature of “being cool.”

Touwa (voiced by M.A.O), meanwhile, is a woman in her 20s who’s second in command. A highly strategic person, she thinks two or three moves in advance and is adaptive to changing battlefield conditions. She loves candy and reading books and is diligent about trying to keep spirits up inside the command room. Though she dreams of being of a beautiful bride one day, she’s beginning to feel like her time for that might be slipping away bit by bit. During gameplay, she’ll provide updates on how battles are going to give players a better idea of where and how to set up their units.

A release date for Metropolis Defenders has not been announced.

Runemaster no longer in development

Development on Paradox Interactive’s PlayStation 4 and PC fantasy RPG Runemaster has been halted until further notice, the company announced.

“After much internal debate we have made the decision to freeze development of the project until further notice and move the development team working on it to other projects within Paradox Development Studio,” the company said in a post on its official forum.

“This was not an easy decision to make – Runemaster was a very ambitious project for us, and the team working on it brought all of their passion, dedication, and talent to the table. Despite our best efforts and a couple of re-scopes, Runemaster in its current form was unable to live up to the standards we set for ourselves here at Paradox.”

Paradox says though it was unable to fully realize its vision for Runemaster, it will use the lessons its learned as it moves forward with new endeavors, as well as look into how it can re-use the “best parts” of Runemaster in other ways.

USK: The Arland Trilogy und Hyperdimension Collection

Plant NIS America also eine derartige Bundle-Veröffentlichung?

Insomniac reveals some game-related information via Twitter.

original.jpg

Fans of the Ratchet and Clank series will be happy to hear that Insomniac Games is still full steam ahead developing a new title for the franchise, exclusively on Playstation 4. Maybe it's just me, but the extra funding exclusive titles get usually lead to a more unique, robust gaming experience. Here's to hoping the new Ratchet and Clank game follows that philosophy.

Playstation Experience happened over the weekend, and many gamers were left wondering, "Where is the new Ratchet and Clank?" There are still a lot of misconceptions about the game, and while Insomniac Games may not have had any time on the material stage, they've taken to Twitter's virtual one to offer some tidbits of information regarding the upcoming title.

One fan tweeted at the developer, asking Insomniac if they could make a new Ratchet and Clank - not a remake - for the Playstation 4. Insomniac quickly informed the fan that the new Ratchet and Clank is a complete reimagining:

"It's a complete re-imagining. NOT a remake."

Another person asked why Insomniac wasn't going to release the game in Q1 of 2015. Apparently, the user thought that Insomniac had made a statement declaring that the game would be out in early 2015. Here's what they had to say:

"2015. We never said Q1"

While I had grown comfortable with my furry friend and his metallic companion, it'll be interesting to see where a 'complete reimagining' takes us. It seems like Insomniac needed to change up the Ratchet and Clank formula anyway, so this can only mean good things for the series.
