And with $785 million (as of this writing) worldwide, it has passed
2012 ($769m in 2009) to become Sony’s biggest global grosser ever that isn’t a Daniel Craig 007 movie (
Spectre and
Skyfall) or a
Spider-Manmovie. It is currently Sony’s seventh-biggest global grosser. It sits just ahead of
Spider-Man 2 ($784m in 2004) and behind only
Spider-Man($821m in 2002)
Spider-Man: Homecoming($880m last year),
Spectre ($881m in 2015),
Spider-Man 3 ($890m in 2007) and
Skyfall($1.108 billion in 2012). So, the only question is whether it merely ends up past those first two Sam Raimi Spidey flicks or flirts with $900m and ends up as Sony’s second-biggest grosser.
