100% Zustimmung.

The resent Resonance of Fate (aka End of Eternity) demo offers two modes: Newcomer Mode and Normal Mode. The former is a tutorial sorts, although instead of actually instructing players step by step, it merely adds helper icons and text to the screen.
I personally found Newcomer Mode to be a nice way of assisting players, without interfering with the flow of battle. It seems that other players want a bit more explanation.
In a post at the Resonance of Fate official blog, director Takayuki Suguro responded to player complaints that the demo was tough on newcomers. He admitted this to be the case and apologized.
There's an actual tutorial in the final version of the game, he said. Immediately after starting the game, players will be able to head to a special fighting grounds area for the tutorial.
The mode looks a little something like this:
Each topic has a "clear condition." The first topic, "Charge and attack," requires that you successfully perform a charge attack three times. In the second screen, topic 8, "Item Use," requires that you make use of five items.
This tutorial is totally optional, writes Suguro. This originally wasn't the case. Originally, the tutorials were mixed in with the game's battles, and you would slowly unlock things that you could do in battle as you progressed. They changed this so that the entire battle system is unlocked from the start.
So why isn't this tutorial in the demo? The reason, explains Suguro, is that demos, like retail products, have to clear an inspection process. The demo was made in parallel with the final version of the game, and they were unable to spend too much effort on it.
The game's Tokyo Game Show demo started off with a video tutorial detailing the basics of the battle system. This wasn't included in the downloadable demo for various reasons, but there will be a tutorial video in the final.
