>Sony will once again skip PlayStation Experience this year in an effort to take some more time and prepare for the PlayStation brand's next generation.
>A Last of Us Part II media event will be held on September 24, followed by a "State of Play" video presentation on September 27.
>The "State of Play" presentation will focus on upcoming PS4 and PSVR titles for 2019 and 2020. This is basically the presentation where Sony will get all the remaining PS4 announcements out of the way so they can focus primarily on next-gen announcements next year.
>The next PlayStation meeting takes place on January 22, 2020 at the new Sony Hall venue, located at Times Square in New York. This is where many next-gen announcements will occur, including the unveil of the PlayStation 5. Certain aspects of the console, including the console's design + controller (dualshock 5), hardware and software features and a launch window (October 2020) will be discussed. They will also present some upcoming games for the platform (mentioned below).
>Ghosts of Tsushima, Death Stranding: Definitive Edition, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and a new IP from SIE Japan Studio are some of the titles launching alongside the PS5 of that year. Last of Us Part II is also coming to PS5 as an enhanced/remastered port but is slated for an early 2021 release. Last of Us Part II laucnhes for the PS4 in February.
>At the event, press/media will look at the PS5 console and go hands on with certain games/tech demos and features.
>New IPs will be a key focus for the PS5 software, both from first party and third party studios.
>New IPs from SIE London Studio, Santa Monica Studio, Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games are also in the works for the platform slated to launch in 2021-2023.
>Alongside the Last of Us, two other major IPs from SIE are making a comback in the form of brand new installments. A new WipEout and Ape Escape game will be PS5 exclusives, releasing sometime in 2021.
>SIE is planning to sign deals with more third-party and indie publishers as more third party/indie exclusive games and content will be made available on the PS5.
>Sony will come back to E3 for the E3 2020 show where the PS5 will be the highlight of their presence. They'll be holding a "PlayStation Showcase" press conference once again, including a post-conference stream that will be live on twitch and YouTube featuring developer interviews and live gameplay for upcoming titles, similar to that of Nintendo's Treehouse Live.
>Many more details about the PS5 will be discussed during the conference, as well as new game announcements for the platform and some new games for the PSVR.
>More PS5 details will be revealed throughout the year through social media posts and "State of Play" presentations, until it releases on October 23, 2020.
>Sony is planning to move production for all PlayStation products from China to southeast Asia in an effort to avoid potential US tariffs, this includes the PS5 and 2nd-gen PSVR.
>Doing this will help maintain the price of the PS5 as they are aiming for €499 MSRP ($499 USD). This is a fair price considering the specs and features it's going for.
