L09: Professional

John Dally's Prostroke Golf (Prostroke) was announced in May and received little attention as it would be a golf game that didn't feature Tiger Woods, but that all changed when O-Games added that Prostroke would be Move compatible. Having this background it was interesting trying out the game knowing that it would be one of the first games to feature Move.
The demo started off by showing the overview of the demo course and then zooming to your golfer. The visuals seemed really rough but O-Games said that the game was pre-alpha and one shouldn't take into account that the textures didn't seem done. Even with rough visuals, it was exciting to see Move in action.
Moving past the bare graphics, the HUD showed pretty normal golf items such as a meter for how much power the swing puts out, as well as weather conditions. Also, using the regular buttons on the Move, one can scope out the terrain ahead and check for distance and height to better plan the shot. Using the regular PlayStation buttons on the Move controller was easy and didn't take away from the experience.
Working with the Move controller was very intuitive, and very different from the Wiimote, which was how I started to play the game, attempting to account for waggle. The feel for the golf club was very accurate and I soon started understanding that even slightly twisting the Move controller left or right would affect my shot dramatically. I attempted to unlearned my Wiimote training as I was hooking and slicing all over the demo course. Luke, the O-Games representative, was very forgiving and tried to help fine tune my shot even though nothing can undo 3 years of Wiimote waggle practice.
Putting in the game was a dream with the Move, it responded really well to the tiniest of movements, just like putting. 9 (pro)strokes later I felt that the Move had found a good home with O-Games. They didn't confirm a launch date but said they were moving for a fall release date and buyers can pick up Move and Prostroke at K-mart conveniently right next to John Daly's discount clubs.
