Forza Horizon 2's Kinect features will centre on a "digital personal assistant" called ANNA.
While Kinect integration for the Xbox racer wasn't on show at E3 last month, Playground Games creative director Ralph Fulton told Examiner he's "really excited" about the possibilities afforded by the voice and motion sensing device.
"Kinect will be involved with a feature called ANNA," he said. "She is your digital personal assistant and navigation in the game. She is also very intelligent and will suggest things to do in the game and give you a recap when you return to the games. She will also alert you when friends are online."
Fulton also confirmed that the game won't feature a story mode, although he said it will offer "a vast robust solo experience" for players who aren't keen on multiplayer.
"We understand there are lots of players like that," he said. "What we don't have is a story, per say. There is a really strong structure set up around the festival and the Drivatars. They really are the characters in the game. You form your own narratives with real people, friends, and family you know."
Fulton previously labelled the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of Forza Horizon 2 "different games". The former is being built on the Forza 5 engine by Playground Games, while the latter is being developed separately on the Forza Horizon engine by Sumo Digital.
The open-world sequel takes drivers across southern Europe and includes hundreds of cars, headlined by the 2015 Lamborghini Huracán. A weather system also makes its series debut, while Forza 5's Drivatar system is being adapted for inclusion too, although these features won't be present in the Xbox 360 version.
Microsoft announced a Forza Horizon 2 release date of September 30 during its E3 press conference.
