Dragon Quest Builders details equipment, Golem boss battle

Square Enix has released a new set of Dragon Quest Builders details and screenshots, introducing equipment and the game’s first boss battle.

Get the information below.

Equipment and More

The materials you create on your adventure will allow you to make various recipes and items to benefit the world’s revival. You’ll also be able to create familiar Dragon Quest series equipment to attach to your character, including weapons, armor, shields, and equipment. You can equip up to five things at once, and they’ll be reflected visually on your character, as well.

Some of the recipes you can learn to make new items can be obtained by handling requests from monsters.

Initially, you’ll use your equipment to break down the terrain (for material). But the terrain you can break down varies based on the weapon you’re using, so you should test out various weapons. For example, the “Big Hammer” is best for breaking down stone, while the “Stone Axe” is best for breaking down trees.

You’ll learn special skills as you progress through the story, including attacks with wide range that you can use not only to battle monsters, but to break down a large part of the terrain at once.

Big Bosses

The first boss battle you’ll encounter is in Merkid against the Golem enemy. He’ll slam down his fists and throw large rocks that endanger the town. You can set traps for the Golem to activate. At times, he’ll break his posture and fall to the floor, opening your opportunity to attack.

Dragon Quest Builders will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on January 28.

Dragon Quest Builders details Myra continent, rail cars

Square Enix has released a new set of Dragon Quest Builders details and screenshots, introducing the game’s third continent, Myra, and the rail cars you’ll use to get around.

Myra

Myra is a land flowing with magma and full of danger. You’ll come here after finishing up the game’s first two continents, Merkid and Rimuldar.

There is a monster stronghold in the lava zone. Break through its guards and aim for the interior. What kind of materials can you get here?

There are also strong monsters who can endure harsh environments. However, human beings can also stick it out. Trustworthy allies will fight alongside the hero.

By advancing through the story of Myra, you’ll be able to use the “hot springs” in town. There are even unique specialty cuisines you can only make in the hot springs.

Explore the Sea of Magma with the Rail Car

Simply walking in the lava zone will lower your health, so you’ll have a hard time if you’re only going by foot. But luckily, in Myra, you can easily move through dangerous areas with the rail car.

There are two types of rail cars: “wooden” and “iron.” To move around by rail car, players will need to lay down the tracks. They can go straight, curve, and incline.

Dragon Quest Builders will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on January 28.
