So, with League's new addition of their Preseason 3 patch and the subsequent major imbalances that followed, I had decided at that point that I would make the transition to DotA 2 in search of greener pastures.
A little background on my League history. I have about 2400 games of League played. I played it since beta and all the way up to the newest Season changes. My main motivation to leave the game came with this latest patch due to the MAJOR imbalance left by Riot's addition of a slew of new items. I am a player who plays a majority of different roles. I don't prefer any specific role but I try to fit the needs of the team.
Now, onto DotA2. I must say; this game is really a breath of fresh air. It seems regardless of what 'role' or 'meta' you are playing, everyone has a very specific impact on the pacing and overall outcome of the game. In League, you have a support hero and jungle in almost all of your games and those characters eventually phase out and become almost useless in their application of their skills to the game. They are so underleveled and worthless by the mid game, they don't play much of a outcome on team fights. Whereas Dota is completely different, everyone playing a big role in how the outcome of teamfights plays out.
Another nice feature is how easily distinguishable abilities are. You almost always know where the damage is coming from. In League, everything is a veritable clusterfuck of animations and you know never know where all the collateral damage is coming from.
My last and final point is how much better the community in Dota is. No raging kids thus far so fingers crossed.
All in all, been having a blast playing Dota. Its taken the place of League and surpassed my expectations easily.
