During their conference call regarding the first-half fiscal period of 2010, Electronic Arts revealed that Madden NFL 10 has sold 3.9 million copies as of the end of September.
It didn’t start off well for the mega hit Electronic Arts franchise, however, as the latest title saw a decreased in performance by 19% during August when compared to Madden NFL ’09.
However, sales for Madden NFL 10 increased over the previous edition in September by 8%. This is largely due to the new price drop and model for the Playstation 3. As a result, Madden NFL sales increased by 60% on that particular system compared to 2008. Overall, Madden NFL 10 has sold 5% more than Madden NFL ’09 on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 as of the end of September.
Although Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time did not make the top ten software NPD chart for October, Insomniac Games is still very satisfied with the sales performance of their latest title.
In their latest Full Moon Show podcast, the developer revealed that A Crack in Time is the fastest-selling game in the Ratchet and Clank series yet. That is a rather impressive feat considering that the eight previous titles have combined to sell over 25 million units worldwide.
Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time was released on October 27th exclusively for the Playstation 3. The October NPD report covered the period between October 4th and the 31st.
80 percent, no more, no less, is the marketshare of the Wii among the 11.7 million of female gamers in America. That accounts for roughly 9 million gamers - compare it to the shares of the X360 and PS3 - 11 and 9 percent respectively, which dwarfs both completely at an impressive 4:1 ratio.
The data has been revealed at a BMO Capital Markets event for game companies and investors by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, following a research the company had conducted on the subject, in an effort to show just how much success Nintendo has achieved in expanding the market.
The data was presented in the form of pie chart slides (above). The first one shows percentage data of so called "primary gamers", a definition Fils-Aime explained as "the main users of the console". It shows one fourth of all users being females. The second slide revealed the marketshares of each company in the female primary gamer field - a chart Nintendo must be very proud of... and hey, not without a reason. It's not like we didn't know Nintendo had a major advantage in the "girl gamer" aspect, but I don't know how much of us actually expected it to be that big...

LEFT 4 DEAD 2: TWO MILLION SOLD IN TWO WEEKS
Valve’s Zombie Apocalypse Sequel Doubles Sales Over Original
Dec 1, 2009 – Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced sales results and multiplayer numbers for its zombie apocalypse, co-operative action, Left 4 Dead 2.
Released just two weeks ago, over 2 million retails copies of L4D2 have been sold worldwide and the game appears to be on target to become one of the top selling Xbox and PC titles for the month of November. Sales to date are more than double the original title, which was released exactly one year prior to L4D2. And “Black Friday” promotions during the title’s second week of availability in North American resulted in stronger than expected sales in L4D2’s bid to become one of this year’s best selling releases on both platforms.
“Left 4 Dead 2 is off to a great start with strong support at retail and great reviews from the press,” said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. “Meanwhile the title has already been played by over 1 million Xbox LIVE Gold account holders, and news regarding L4D2 DLC 1 is coming very soon.”
Exclusively available for the Xbox 360 and PC, L4D2 sets a new benchmark for co-operative action games. The title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaws, frying pans, axes, baseball bats, and more.
With the AI Director 2.0, L4D’s dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players’ performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.
Finally, with new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original, featuring more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, new Survival maps, and the new competitive game mode, Scavenge, all available at launch.
