Mailbag for August 18, 2006
The dead rise, rumors fly, and next year's games are looking good.
paar Auschnitte:
Finally, what other "after launch window" Triple-A games as of right now are heading exclusively to PS3?
4.) Besides MGS4 already mentioned above, other hotly-anticipated PS3 exclusives include Assassin's Creed, Heavenly Sword, Killzone 3, Unreal Tournament 2007, Virtua Fighter 5, Vision Gran Turismo, Devil May Cry 4, Tekken 6, Getaway, Eight Days, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, DC Comics MMO, Ratchet and Clank, Gradius, and Lair.
Was zu Dead Rising auf PS3
I don't want the same game because as much as I like Dead Rising (and trust me, I do like it -- I'd give it a low-8 or so), I'd much rather see an all-new game in six-to-12 months rather than just play the same thing all over again. Upgraded graphics and a new mode don't warrant a new purchase right off the bat.
Besides, the story is something I want continued. What happened with a certain hot medical technician? What's the deal with the special children? What happened after the end of Overtime mode? Hopefully I'm cryptic enough to not give anything away for those who haven't played it yet -- but for those of us who have, I think you'd agree that those are questions that need some conclusions.
As for your other question, yes anything is possible and "Only on Xbox" from a third party isn't a 100% guarantee.
Is it true that Capcom and EA will not be developing games for the PlayStation 3 until 2007 because it's too difficult/ costly to make games on? My friend told me he read this on Joystiq. If this is fact, then we can only see this recurring trend for game developers working on the PS3. This is my only concern in buying a system on launch day.
That's about as untrue as you can get. While it is true that Capcom doesn't have a launch title for the PS3, it does have several PlayStation 3 products already in development (Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 3, Monster Hunter 3, and at least one untitled action game that the company is keeping under wraps. Electronic Arts, however, has several launch titles definitely confirmed for launch (Fight Night Round 3, Madden NFL 07, NBA Live 07, Need for Speed Carbon, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07), with several other titles slated for further down the road (Army of Two, Battlefield: Bad Company, Def Jam 3, The Lord of the Rings: The White Council, Medal of Honor Airborne, and NBA Street). Both publishers got their biggest returns out of the PlayStation 2 last generation, and there's no way either would suddenly drop support for the PS3 before it has had an opportunity to prove itself in the marketplace.
Killzone the Invisible
While it's interesting to hear everyone's theories about how the PlayStation 3 will fail and how Xbox 360 or Wii are going to take over (even though there's been a consistently-full rack of about four dozen 360's, games and controllers untouched at my best buy for as long as I can remember), I would like to know if you or anyone for that matter have even one small detail or rumor for Killzone 2 (or whatever its title is)? Just one real screenshot of in-game footage of someone's boot or a bullet shell would fill a void of knowing absolutely nothing at this point. And if not anything concrete do you have information about when we might know anything? Thanks and keep up the mailbag
I can't tell you for sure when we'll see the first in-game footage or in-game screenshot (though I wouldn't be surprised if this year's TGS would be the place). But I can tell you one thing I've heard from several people on the inside: the target footage you've seen wasn't just to blow smoke -- Guerilla really wants to achieve that level of presentation and is working diligently to do so. Also, don't expect to see it in any territory until (at the very minimum) late next year.
