According to the Meqon Future Technologies web site, the Revolution will join other next-generation consoles in making use of the new Meqon Game Dynamic SDK. The advanced physics driver will provide fantastic real-time game features, applying physics to glass, cloth, metal, rope, fluid, etc., while also simplifying the process for game developers. Renowned industry site, gamesindustry.biz, also had a behind-closed doors demonstration of the advanced driver, whose impressions can be seen here. What is most interesting is the roadmap at the bottom of the description page (seen below).
In the third quarter of 2006, the new SDK is expected to be employed by all next-generation platforms, including Revolution. Yet, stepping backwards by one notch on the timeline, it says that the physics driver will be available for multiplayer on all consoles in 2nd quarter of 2006, excluding Nintendos, whose is not mentioned until Q3. Could this be a hint to the Revolutions release date? Revolution Report contacted Meqon, but they were unavailable for comment at the time of publish. So, while not an official confirmation, it is as close as one might get at the moment. It is comforting, however, to see that Revolution will be providing the same degree of advanced physics as might be expected of a next-generation console. Revolution Report will provide more details about Nintendos mysterious console as they break.
