Stormfront Studios entwickeln Action/Adventure

05.01.07 - Die Stormfront Studios (Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone PS2/Xbox, Eragon Xbox 360/Xbox/PS2) arbeiten an einem neuen Action/Adventure für Wii.

Das geht aus einem Stellenangebot hervor, in dem ein 'Senior Game Designer' und ein 'Level Designer' gesucht werden. Das Spiel basiert auf einer Lizenz, zu der 2008 ein Film in die Kinos kommen wird. Weitere Angaben zu dem Projekt gibt es nicht.
 
Nach einem zehnmonatigen Auswahlprozess hat sich Nintendo of Europe mit Sitz in Großostheim für NEUE DIGITALE als europaweite Digital-Lead-Agentur entschieden. Insgesamt hatten vier deutsche und eine kanadische Agentur an dem mehrstufigen Pitch teilgenommen.

NEUE DIGITALE wird für die Beratung, Kreation und technische Umsetzung der Online-Projekte verantwortlich sein. Im Rahmen der Neuausrichtung des Kundenbindungsprogramms wird NEUE DIGITALE ein Personalisierungskonzept für die europäischen Nintendo-Websites erarbeiten und diese einem inhaltlichen, visuellen und technischen Relaunch unterziehen. In diesem Zusammenhang wird NEUE DIGITALE für Nintendo of Europe zudem Kampagnen und CRM-Konzepte entwickeln.

Die Online-Kommunikation wird fortlaufend auf ihre Effektivität hin optimiert werden. Im Fokus der Analyse stehen dabei zunächst die Registrierungsprozesse, die in der Folge eine personalisierte Ansprache der User ermöglichen. Daneben wird die Website-Usability verbessert und die Online- mit der Offline-Kommunikation verknüpft. NEUE DIGITALE wird sich an verschiedenen Performancekriterien messen lassen und teils auch erfolgsabhängig vergütet. Für den Neukunden Nintendo of Europe wird ein festes Team von zwölf NEUE DIGITALE-Mitarbeitern arbeiten.

Mit der Entscheidung von Nintendo of Europe für NEUE DIGITALE ist der Grundstein für eine langfristige Betreuung im europäischen Markt gelegt. „Wir freuen uns, dass wir nach einem so aufwändigen Auswahlverfahren mit NEUE DIGITALE eine Agentur gefunden haben, die uns von der kreativen wie auch der analytischen und technischen Seite überzeugt hat,“ sagt Robert Viebahn, Head of European Online & CRM bei Nintendo of Europe.

Ein erstes gemeinsames Projekt ist bereits abgeschlossen: NEUE DIGITALE hat die Wii-Produkteinführung (http://wii.nintendo.com) begleitet. Mit dem europäischen Launch der neuen Nintendo-Spielekonsole Wii am 8. Dezember 2006 richtet sich Nintendo strategisch neu aus und erweitert erneut seine Zielgruppe. Mit dem Relaunch der Website (www.nintendo-europe.com) im Sommer 2007 wird diese Strategie konsequent weitergeführt. Nintendo ist mit derzeit 33 Millionen PageViews und 1,8 Mio. Unique Visitors pro Monat ein hoch frequentiertes Portal.

New Wii Game to be Adults Only?

Over at the Nebris website there is a game they are working on called Sadness for the Nintendo Wii. What is interesting about this is that you have to be 21 or over just to read about it. Is this going to be the first Nintendo game to be rated AO? Sadness is a horror game that is entirely in black and white and is due for the Wii sometime in 2007.

Zeitung: 'Nintendo dominierte Weihnachtsgeschäft in Japan'

08.01.07 - Die führende japanische Wirtschaftszeitung Nihon Keizai Shimbun hat in ihrer heutigen Ausgabe das zurückliegende Weihnachtsgeschäft analysiert. Darin heißt es, dass Nintendo-Hardware das Weihnachtsgeschäft 2006 in Japan dominiert hat.

Wii und Nintendo DS waren im letzten Monat in Japan knapp: Sobald neue Ware in den Geschäften eintraf, war sie innerhalb kürzester Zeit vergriffen - manchmal in nur wenigen Stunden.

Sony hätte mit der PS3 zwar verstärkt Lieferungen vorgenommen, doch wäre die Nachfrage hier nicht so hoch gewesen wie bei Nintendo-Konsolen. In vielen Geschäften ist die PS3 zu haben und nicht ausverkauft. Bei Yodobashi Camera in Sendai waren sowohl Wii als auch Nintendo DS am 02.12.06 (Tag der Wii-Markteinführung) nach einer Stunde ausverkauft, während die PS3-Bestände noch für fünf Tage reichten.

Präzise Verkaufszahlen für die letzte Dezember-Woche folgen in wenigen Tagen; aufgrund der Feiertage in Japan wurden letzte Woche keine Daten von Media Create veröffentlicht.

Owners of Nintendo’s revolutionary games console, Wii are in for a
retro treat at the start of 2007, with 36 new Virtual Console titles spanning Nintendo’s
twenty-year history available to download in Q1. Gamers will be able to turn back the
clock and enjoy titles which made their debut on the NES, SNES, N64, SEGA MEGA
DRIVE and Turbografx (PC Engine).

Using the Wii’s Wii Shop Channel, gamers are able to download retro games to Wii’s
Virtual Console. Once selected these games are saved to the Wii internal flash memory
and added to the console’s Wii Channel Menu allowing them to be easily accessed at
any time. The Virtual Console games that will be added to the Wii Shop Channel in Q1
include 20 Nintendo titles, 7 Turbografx (PC Engine) games and 9 classic SEGA MEGA
DRIVE games. New Virtual Console titles will be added throughout 2007 creating a
constantly growing library of games.

Fans of Nintendo’s classic titles will be delighted by games from the Nintendo
Entertainment System (NES), Super Nintendo (SNES) and Nintendo 64 (N64), including
Mario Kart 64™, The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time™, Street Fighter II®:
World Warrior (CAPCOM), Super Probotector™ and the hugely popular Super Mario
World™.

SEGA is treating its fans with the release of a host of popular games including Streets
of Rage, Bio-Hazard Battle, Bonanza Bros. and Comix Zone. Hudson will also be
entertaining gamers with a selection of its best titles from Turbografx (PC Engine)
including Soldier Blade, Double Dungeons and New Adventure Island.

Arbeitet Gearbox an einer Wii Version der Unreal 3 Engine?

In einem Interview mit IGN sagte Gearbox, dass sie an einem Wii Pojekt arbeiten. Insider sagten dazu, dass Gearbox angeblich an einer heruntergerechneten Unreal 3 Engine für Wii arbeitet. Dieses Gerücht konnte bisher nicht bestätigt werden, doch wir dürfen gespannt sein.

"Gearbox Software, also said that it was working on a Wii project. Insiders claim that Gearbox was at one point experimenting with Unreal Engine 3 and attempting to create a dumbed-down version that would run on Wii. Unfortunately, we have been unable to confirm the accuracy of those rumors."

Pal Wii owners seeing update

PAL Wii owners sitting down (or should I say standing?!) for some game time are being greeted with a Wii update. This update appears to bring the Wii from version 2.0 to 2.1. As of posting this story, there is no such update in the US. That may change by the time I wake up! So far, no one can figure out just what the update does. There are a number of small issues that the update could be targeted at. Perhaps we will hear from Nintendo on this subject later in the day.

Ein Nintendo-Sprecher sagt, dass die Mund-zu-Mund-Propaganda für Wii weiter herumgeht und das Interesse der Menschen weiter steigt; dadurch sei bei vielen Händlern die Nachfrage höher als im letzten Jahr.

Nintendo verspricht, regelmäßig Wii an den britischen Handel auszuliefern, um den Bedarf decken zu können.

Detective Conan: Erste Bilder
Die Famitsu hat die ersten Bilder zu Detective Conan enthüllt.

In dem Action-Adventure schlüpft der Spieler in die Rolle von Shinichi Kudo. Beide Wii Controller werden voll genutzt: mit dem Nunchuk steuert man die Spielfigur, mit der Wiimote wird die Umgebung untersucht. Der Titel ist in Japan für das erste oder zweite Quartal 2007 vorgesehen.

Driver: Parallel Lines-Entwicklung bestätigt

11.01.07 - Die Entwicklung des Actionspiels Driver: Parallel Lines ist jetzt durch eine Prüfung der Alterskennzeichnung durch die ESRB bestätigt worden.

So wurde der Ubisoft-Titel mit 'MATURE' (ab 17 Jahre) für die USA eingestuft. Ubisoft hat das Spiel bislang noch nicht offiziell angekündigt. Release: TBA

Super Mario Galaxy im April?

12.01.07 - Nintendo gibt den Auslieferungstermin von Super Mario Galaxy bislang mit 2007 an. Der amerikanische Händler EBGames hat den Termin jetzt auf Anfang April 2007 gelegt - ob es sich nur um einen Platzhalter handelt oder das Spiel tatsächlich im April ausgeliefert wird, ist unklar.
