Nintendo fertigt monatlich 2,4 Mio. Wii

Nintendo produziert derzeit 2,4 Mio. Wii pro Monat. Das bestätigte Reggie Fils-Aime, der Präsident von Nintendo of America. Das entspricht einer Steigerung um 33 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vorjahreszeitraum.

Japanische Zahlen zu disaster


Erst am vergangenen Freitag ist Disaster - Day of Crisis in Europa auf den Markt gekommen. Vor fast genau einem Monat feierte das Spiel dagegen schon in Japan seine Weltpremiere, konnte sich allerdings zu keinem Zeitpunkt in den obligatorischen Top-10-Charts von Media Control etablieren.

Der Enterbrain-Verlag, Herausgeber der japanischen Famitsu, blickt nun, wie so oft, einmal in die Vergangenheit und listet die Gesamtverkaufszahlen von Spielen seit ihrem Erscheinen auf.

Dabei wird bekannt, dass sich das lange erwartete Action-Abenteuer lediglich 21.464 Mal verkaufen konnte. Am 25. September 2008 war es erschienen.

Nun stellt sich die Frage, woran diese vergleichsweise schwachen Zahlen liegen. Ist Nintendos wieder einmal sehr kurzfristige Veröffentlichungspolitik schuld (Disaster kam zwei Wochen nach seiner Ankündigung auf den Markt)? Oder liegt die Ursache wirklich, so wie Nintendo sagt, an dem sehr westlichen Charakter des Spiels und daran, dass es sich um eine völlig unbekannte Marke handelt?...

Mario Power Tennis Slices onto Wii

The GameCube Tennis sim featuring Mario and pals makes a welcome return on Wii.

As part of Nintendo's plans to re-release GameCube titles with Wii controls and possible other updates, it seems Mario's popular Tennis sim will be serving up a treat for US fans next February.

GoNintendo spotted the title in a retailer's release list, and if other titles are to go by, the game will presumably have support for Wii controls - allowing for some funky slices, serves and volleys using the Wii remote.

With a Wii specific Mario Tennis unannounced, hopefully this'll keep sports fans at bay till then, but where are the big name games, Nintendo?

Mad World at Micromania Games Show 2008 in Paris
According to a press release, Mad World for the Wii will be at Micromania Games Show 2008 game expo which will take place from October 31 through November 3rd in Paris. Atsushi Inaba, creator of this action game, will come to Paris to show his game to the public. Animal Crossing : Let's Go to the City for the Wii and Heavy Rain for the PlayStation 3 are also on the list.
 
Guitar Hero World Tour Downloadable Content Revealed


Activision and Red Octane announce the tracks that you can download to the Wii version.

US, October 24, 2008 - Over the past few weeks Activision and Red Octane revealed the list of music tracks that will be available for download for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Guitar Hero World Tour. Suspiciously, any mention of Wii had been left out of the announcements, a surprising move considering the companies have been promising that the Wii version will feature similar downloadable content as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.

There must have been a lag in communication, as Activision and Red Octane have today confirmed the list of downloadable content for the Wii version that will be available in the first full month of its release.

On Day One, October 26th, Wii owners will be able to download the following tracks to their systems or onto SD cards:


  • An Endless Sporadic – "Anything" (free)
  • Blind Melon – "No Rain" (200 Wii Points)
  • Boston – "Rock and Roll Band" (200 Wii Points)
  • Foreigner – "Hot Blooded" (200 Wii Points)
  • Metallica – "Broken, Beat & Scarred" (200 Wii Points)
  • Metallica – "Cyanide" (200 Wii Points)
  • Metallica – "My Apocalypse" (200 Wii Points)
  • Rick Springfield – "Jessie's Girl" (200 Wii Points)
  • Sworn – "Electro Rock" (free)
  • Ted Nugent's Original Guitar Duel (free)
  • Zakk Wylde's Original Guitar Duel (free)




The following tracks will be available for Wii in the weeks following the launch of Guitar Hero: World Tour, with more announcements forthcoming.

Boy and His Blob Coming to Wii?

David Crane's A Boy and His Blob had a loyal following when it was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System two decades ago, strong enough for people to raise red flags when Majesco quietly cancelled the Game Boy Advance remake, A Boy and His Blob: Jelly's Cosmic Adventure a few years back. But the series might be making a return to the console scene if clues of its revival are any indication.

According to the latest Electronic Software Ratings Board list of games receiving ESRB ratings, Majesco has been given an E for Everyone rating for a game called A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia. When we contacted Majesco, company representatives offered up a "no comment" after being asked about the project. Since the entry features the same subtitle as the NES game, it's probable that the game is just a Virtual Console version of the original.

A Boy and His Blob also appeared on the Game Boy classic in a sequel, Rescue of Princess Blobette. Majesco revealed intentions of a Nintendo DS game, but that game, too, disappeared off the radar.

Datel - Freeloader

Vor einigen Monaten veröffentlichte Nintendo ein neues Update für die Wii-Firmware. Und relativ schnell danach wurde klar, dass man damit nicht nur leichte Veränderungen im Interface vorgenommen hatte, sondern dass auch bestimmte Modifikationen ausgeschaltet wurden.

Auch der Freeloader von Datel wurde entmachtet und hat in der Version v3.3 keinen Effekt mehr. Dabei haben sich Spieler aus aller Welt so gefreut, als das Utensil auf den Markt kam und ihnen das Spielen von ausländischen Wii-Titeln wie Super Smash Bros. Brawl erlaubte.

Hersteller Datel nimmt nun Stellung zu einer möglichen Lösung in der Zukunft. So sei man sich gar nicht sicher, ob es mit dem Freeloader überhaupt weitergehen werde, und könne auch nicht sagen, wann es eine neue Version geben könnte. Ein neuer Freeloader scheint dementsprechend also nicht geplant zu sein, ein weiteres Update könnte ihn sofort wieder außer Kraft setzen.

Garantie hat Datel übrigens von Anfang an nicht dafür gegeben, dass das Produkt auch nach etwaigen Updates noch funktionieren wird.
