Bob Ross developer talks about Wii/DS game
May 4th, 2006

Bob RossNintendoGal has an interview up with Joseph Hatcher from AGFRAG, the team behind bringing the Bob Ross game to the DS and Wii. Below is a portion of the interview. Make sure to check out the entire thing HERE. Mr. Hatcher’s answers are in bold.

Will Bob Ross Inc. play any role in the development of this title?

Yes, they’ve given us full access to the intellectual properties including the TV shows (spanning from 1982-1993), voice, actual painting techniques, all the transcripts in all languages the show has been broadcast in, so that could potentially help us with localization. And because they have such control over his intellectual property in various regions and countries, they’re working very closely with us to make sure we go by their guidelines.

Have any publishers approached you with interest about this game?

More than 5 less than 15.

Will you need the nunchaku attachment for this game?

No, you’ll just use the main controller.

Since Bob Ross is unfortunately no longer with us, do you think it’ll be difficult to make this game considering that circumstance?

No not at all, with enough of the back catalog of his TV Show and sound clips/bites we’ll be able to utilize that for the games pretty well.

Will there be a way to calibrate each device you’re playing on (be it PC, DS, or Revolution) for exact colors?

It’s not going to be like trying to really paint, but there will be paintings from his show that will be utilized into the games where in some of the modes you’ll actually be painting to learn with Bob Ross like on the TV shows. Color palettes, we’re still working on. We’re wanting this to be very easy and intuitive, turn it on, and start playing the game.

So if you actually looked through all of those links you should know practically everything there is to know about the Metal Slug series. SNK says that the Wii version will have special functions only possible with the Wii Remote. However being that the game is quite simplistic I would say don't expect to see revolutionary gameplay. A flick of the Wiimote may send a gernade in the air. Small stuff like that will likely be implemented. These games are quote old now but this set is one of my most anticipated Wii game that we know about so far. They make very fun co-op games with friends. Some of the best multi player capable games out there. Most arcade games are though. These are the type of games I like to play with cheats. Just to run through and gun with a friend. This game is suppose to be at E3 in playable form. Should be kind of fun though we will have bigger and better games like Metroid Prime 3 and Red Steel to play.
