PS4/PS5/Vita The Games of PLAYSTATION

Exist Archive first game system details

Famitsu this week has first details on Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky, Spike Chunsoft and tri-Ace’s newly announced RPG for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.

Exist Archive is set in modern day Tokyo, as well as on another planet called “Protolexa.” The 12 young protagonists are soul-carrying evil gods who become involved in the gods’ quarrels.

The game’s main element is dungeon exploration. You’ll explore dungeons in a side-view format as chibi-size 3D characters and can use skills such as dashing and jumping to solve puzzles to proceed. Enemies are not random—they appear on screen before battle. You can gain the upper hand by attacking them before entering battle.

The “Active Chain Battle” system lets up to four characters participate in battle. Each party member is assigned to the Circle, X, Square, or Triangle button. Pressing the button tied to the corresponding character carries out an attack. By thinking about the order you’re attacking in and chaining moves together skillfully, you can up your battle score and increase the drop rate of valuable items.

During battle, you can position your characters in the front or back rows. The front row increases your attack power, but makes you more likely to be attacked. The back row lowers your attack power, but makes you less likely to be attacked. It’s possible to rotate between rows.

The power of the evil gods dwells within the 12 heroes, and by releasing it, you can unleash a powerful attack.

The following characters are introduced:

- Ryou Kujou (voiced by Ryota Osaka)
- Ranze Kamikawa (voiced by Aya Endo)
- Mayura Tsukidate (voiced by Ai Kayano)
- Tokihisa Kiritanigawa (voiced by Tetsuya Kakihara)

The following bits are from Famitsu’s interview with the developers:

- The keyword is “sharp.” This is not your typical rule of right-type story.
- One important choice you have to make in the game is who to send back to Earth and the order you send them back in will change what happens as you reach the end of the game.
- The game will take 40 to 50 hours to clear. There are a number of side elements like extra dungeons available after you finish the game.
- There is a boss battle time attack online element.

The game’s staff is as follows:

- Producer: Yuichiro Saito
- R&D Lead Programmer: Yoshiharu Gotanda
- Director and Scenario: Masaki Norimoto
- Composer: Motoi Sakuraba
- Character Designer: Mino Taro
- Development: tri-Ace

Exist Archive is due out for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan in 2015.

Net High details investigations, riajuu experiences
Marvelous has shared new details and screenshots on Net High, its PS Vita game about uncovering the truth behind internet lies.

For some brief background, check this story.

Get the new details below.

Investigating Tips and Uncovering Lies

Introduction

Your opponents are riajuu, people who live fulfilling lives, who are overflowing with confidence and have strong personalities.

Investigation Parts

During Investigation Parts, you’ll visit various places where people gather, like the shopping district and convenience stores, and try to somehow obtain valuable information.

Flame Wars

Based on the information you uncover during your investigation, you’ll battle to uncover the clever lies of riajuu.

Riajuu Experience Parts

These are enjoyable communication parts with the girls you meet as a result of your battles.

Investigation Parts in Detail

During these parts, you’ll head out to the city to investigate tips passed along to you online, and collect evidence and hints to use in battle.

Investigation Method #1. Fuel to the Fire Tweet

To get the latest riajuu gossip, you can tweet incendiary remarks to attract attention and learn gossip through the many replies you receive. Depending on what you say, you can lose or gain followers.

Investigation Method #2. Lifelog Search

Using your high-tech wearable terminal, known as “Glasses,” it is possible to see traces of people’s lives. Check the various phrases that appear on screen to discover the latest gossip.

Investigation Method #3. Fuse Inspiration

Once you’ve collected gossip with the other two methods, you can use this to brainstorm associated words. If it goes well, you might have a flash of insight that sparks new gossip.

Your Victory Prize… The Riajuu Experience

After overcoming your battles against riajuu, you’ll trigger a brief reward period where you’re able to communicate with the ladies of the riajuu who were your enemies during the investigation parts.

By raising your likability level with theses ladies during conversation, you might get to the point where you can rub their heads, talk to them while holding your hand up against the wall (like a cool guy!), or even have lay your head on their laps. But given that Oreshi is a non-riajuu, this won’t be an easy task.

Net High is due out for PS Vita in Japan on November 26.

Tokyo Xanadu screenshots introduce Eiji, Akihiro, attribute changes and skill upgrades

The latest set of Tokyo Xanadu screenshots introduce the game’s final set of sub-characters. There’s Eiji, the yakuza, and Akihiro, the juvenile delinquent. Additionally, we also get a look at how different attributes affect weapons, as well as how upgrades affect skills.

Get the information below.

Characters

Eiji Goto (voiced by Eiji Takemoto)

A big man who serves as the waka gashira of the Takabane gang, which is based in Morimiya City. He has a threatening appearance to him that overwhelms those around him, but is a chivalrous yakuza who doesn’t allow himself to go against the gang’s moral code. Members of the gang admire him and refer to him as “Aniki.”

Nowadays, the Takabane gang sets up office in the Hourai-chou neighborhood where delinquents are frequently causing incidents. The protagonist Kou included, the members of the gang seem vigilant, however…

Akihiro Inui (voiced by Shunsuke Kanie)

A man with a suspicious atmosphere, as well as the second generation leader of the delinquent group BLAZE. After Shio retired as the group’s leader, Akihiro elected himself the new head and gathered up a team from the dissolved group to form a rebirth of BLAZE and restart activity.

By absorbing a small team in the Morimiya City area and expanding its power, the BLAZE led by Akihiro appears to be becoming more and more radical. However…

Master Core: Attribute and Soul Device Changes

Each character has their own unique Soul Device weapon, which can be enhanced. As you progress through the story, you’ll be able to switch out your Soul Device’s “Master Core.”

Each character has their own predetermined base attribute. For example:

- Kou: Flame
- Asuka: Spirit
- Sora: Wind
- Yuuki: Steel

And so on. However, it is possible for each character to change their Master Core to one with a different base attribute.

In addition to changing the base attribute of each character when switching Master Cores, the look of your Soul Device will also change depending on the attribute.

Kou

When you change from his basic “Flame” attribute to the “Shadow” attribute, his Soul Device becomes jet black and appears more aggressive. When he uses skills, his flames also become purple.

Rion

When you change from her basic “Wind” attribute to the “Spirit” attribute, her winged Soul Device takes a more complex form. When she uses her strength skills, she creates blue tornadoes.

Upgrading Skills

By strengthening your Soul Device, you can also upgrade each characters shooting, strength, and flight skills. By upgrading skills and raising them to certain levels, there are cases where their appearance and performance will be greatly enhanced.

Asuka

By raising her skill level to a certain point, the strength skill “Crystal Sword” will greatly increase in attack power and range.

Yuuki

By raising his skill level to a certain point, the energy bullets from the shooting skill “Lambda Shot” will increase in size, and basic attack power will also greatly increase.
