Sony kommentiert Entwicklungs-Stopp von Eight Days und The Getaway

08.07.08 - Shuhei Yoshida, der Präsident der Sony Worldwide Studios, hat sich zum kürzlich bekanntgegebenen Entwicklungs-Stopp von Eight Days und The Getaway geäußert.

Grundsätzlich hätten Sonys Entwickler das Richtige mit den Projekten getan, und es gab Dinge in den zwei Spielen, die wirklich gut funktioniert haben. Beide Titel kamen dann ans Ende der Vorproduktions-Phase: Zu so einem Zeitpunkt würde Sony ein Spiel grundsätzlich ganz genau unter die Lupe nehmen.

Anschließend hätte man den Teams aber mehr Ressourcen zur Verfügung stellen müssen, wodurch beide Entwicklungen sehr große Investitionen gewesen wären. Sony verfährt bei all seinen Projekten auf diese Weise: Man untersucht den derzeitigen Stand von Projekten und stoppt einige von ihnen.

Sony würde immer mehr Spiele in Entwicklung haben, als am Ende tatsächlich auf den Markt kommen. Im Fall von Eight Days und The Getaway gab es eine Menge neuer Ideen, die sich sehr interessant anhörten. Doch Sony wusste nicht, ob sie wirklich funktionieren würden oder was notwendig ist, damit man diese Vision realisieren kann.

Aus diesem Grund nutzt man die Vorproduktions-Phase, um neue Ideen auszuprobieren und herauszufinden, was nötig ist, um das Produkt zu entwickeln.

Die Wii ist mir vollkommen egal. Nur die Tatsache, dass die Japan Studios mom so gar nichts liefern können, enttäuscht mich einfach nur. Mom herrscht STILLSTAND bei denen. Irgendwie kann ich mir diese Passivität auch nicht erklären. Statt AA Games, kommen irgenwelche 0815 Google Earth Games fürs PSN...hammer

Sony invites application for European Beta testers


Sony have today revealed on thier official forum that they are now looking for European Beta testers. With games such as Little Big Planet and of course Home on the horizon, now couldn’t be a better time to sign up.

Below is what Sony had to say if you are interested.

We are currently looking for members of the PlayStation community who would like to take part in Beta Tests for upcoming PLAYSTATION 3 titles.

You do not need to be technically minded – we need a variety of people with differing amounts of technical expertise to help us test the games. However, you must be flexible and be prepared to set aside some of your spare time and evenings to participate in specific Test Nights and general game testing.


To take part in the Beta Tests, you must:

Be 18 years of age or older
Be able to read and give feedback in English
Be a European resident
Have a PLAYSTATION®3 with a broadband internet connection and a PLAYSTATION®Network master account.
Agree to the Beta Test Agreement.

If you’re interested, head over to the Beta Test Recruitment page for more information and to put your name down.

Please understand that we have a limited number of places for Beta Testing, and we can’t guarantee that everyone who applies will be able to take part.



What is a Beta Test?
A Beta Test is when we try out the online portion of a PlayStation game to detect any faults, bugs or general areas that could be improved before the game is released. The testing is done by a closed group of anything between 200 to 20,000 volunteer PlayStation gamers.

Buzz!, Everybody’s Golf, Gran Turismo, Killzone, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs, Splinter Cell, Warhawk and WRC are just some of the fantastic and varied titles that have been tested by our Beta community, months before the full game is released.

A Beta Test can last anything between 2 to 6 weeks per game, during which time participants are asked to take part in at least one Test Night per week. Test Nights usually take place on weekday evenings and can last one to two hours each.

You will also be asked to provide feedback in English about your experiences of connecting and playing the game online, and report any bugs or problems that you find via the private Beta Forums and online surveys.

Please note that any games that are sent to you for Beta testing are Beta versions only and will not be useable once the testing is complete. It is also likely that the Beta testing of a game may be limited to specific levels, tracks or online functionality

Kein Wunder, dass die PS3 in Japan nicht läuft, da sind Sonys 1st party Studios eindeutig mit Schuld dran. Produzieren nur Müll, scheinen mit der PS3 komplett überfordert zu sein.

Am 3 August soll ein neuer "großer" PS3 Exklusivtitel vorgestellt werden. Er soll nichts mit FF zu tun haben und beindruckender wie z.B Killzone 2 oder MAG sein.
