The first look at the One Piece: Film Gold theme song, “Give Me Rage” (「怒りをくれよ」in the original Japanese) has been released from the artists performing the theme GLIM SPANKY and Universal Music Japan.
This theme is separate from the opening and insert song, “GOLD & JIVE ~ SILVER OCEAN,” that will be performed by Mayumi Kojima.
glim spankyCheck out a short interview with the members of GLIM SPANKY from May 2016. The song is performed by vocalist/guitarist Remi Matsuo and guitarist Hiroki Kamemoto. GLIM SPANKY is known for their contemporary vibe that seeps through their otherwise 60s and 70s rock and blues tone. The creator of One Piece and executive director of One Piece Film: Gold, Eiichiro Oda, highly recommends this young group that has now earned the reputation as a new generation of rock.
According to GLIM SPANKY’s official website, they will release their second album, Next One, which will include “Give Me Rage.” The album will hit stores on July 20, three days before One Piece Film: Gold hits theaters in Japan.
An original soundtrack for One Piece: Film Gold was also announced earlier this month.
The OST will include 2 CDs and will last 1 hour and 58 minutes. It will be made up of a total of 59 tracks that will be used in One Piece Film: Gold, including the insert song written by Mayumi Kojima, “GOLD & JIVE~SILVER OCEAN”, which is sung by Hikari Mitsushima and Kazuhiro Yamaji who voiced Carina and Gild Tesoro respectively. The theme song for One Piece Film: Gold, 「怒りをくれよ」(“Give Me Rage”) by GLIM SPANKY, will also be included in this soundtrack. Preorders for this soundtrack will begin on July 20 on iTunes, and once again, the public release date is July 27. It will cost ¥3200 plus tax.

Toei Animation is pulling out all the stops for the opening of One Piece: Film Gold on July 23! To commemorate the opening, between July 1, 2016 and August 31, 2016, a bus in Odaiba will be decked out in a gigantic advertisement for the forthcoming movie.
The newspaper the Yomiuri Shimbun also featured large-sized images in their July 1 issue. There are nine posters in all, each for one of the Straw Hat Pirates. The images are 160 cm (62 inches) by 50 cm (20 inches). These posters feature art created by Eiichiro Oda and recently featured in Weekly Shonen Jump.
The official One Piece: Film Gold twitter account recently featured these advertisements adorned at the Shonen Jump editorial department:
One Piece Film: Gold will be released in Japanese theaters on July 23. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda will reprise his role as the executive producer of the movie. The film will be directed by Hiroaki Miyamoto, who also worked on Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island as the assistant director, and was written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who wrote the live action Liar Game: The Final Stage and Liar Game: Reborn films, as well as the live-action Black Butler film. The movie seems to mostly be set in the One Piece world’s biggest golden “entertainment city,” the Gran Tesoro. The Gran Tesoro, a giant entertainment city run by Gild Tesoro and his other Tesoro crew members, is also known as an independent state recognized by the World Government.
It was also announced on June 16, 2016 that the world premiere of the movie will be in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on July 15, 2016. The film will also have showings in Germany, Austria, and France.
On July 23, the notoriously reclusive author of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, will make a rare appearance on Fuji TV to promote One Piece: Film Gold. The interview will include discussion about the forthcoming movie. It will also feature interview with Gaku Hamada who will be voicing Tanaka in One Piece: Film Gold. The interview will air July 23 at around 10:25 AM Japan Standard Time (JST). This will mark his first long-form interview appearance on television.
The back of Eiichiro Oda
Eiichiro Oda is known for his reclusive behavior. Even though he is set to appear on Fuji TV on July 23, it is unlikely we will see his face during that interview.
One Piece author Eiichiro Oda is an executive producer for One Piece: Film Gold, much like his role for One Piece film Z. In an interview late last year, Eiichiro Oda spoke about his role on the movie:
So, I’ve accepted the role of “executive producer” again. Time to make a movie!! The film director is Mr. Miyamoto, a trustworthy man who has been integral to the [One Piece] anime for six years. The script, written by the clever Mr. Kuroiwa, does not disappoint! The animation is done by this guy, and the music by that guy… wait, how am I supposed to advertise this thing without revealing anything!? … We’ll present to you a cool and gorgeous One Piece like you’ve never seen before! Please hold on tight to your seats as you wait for it in excitement and anticipation!
Fuji TV is also set to premiere One Piece: Heart of Gold on Saturday, July 16 at 9:00 PM JST. This tie-in anime special revolves around a mysterious treasure that the antagonist of Gold, Gild Tesoro, also desires: “Pure Gold.” In this television special, the Straw Hat Pirates meet a Heart of Goldgirl who knows where this infamous treasure lies, and they head for the legendary island “Alchemy.”
The One Piece: Film Gold specials don’t end there! Fuji TV will also be airing a short special on Tuesday, July 12: Life is Learned from One Piece airing at 12:25 AM JST.
Finally, there will also be a broadcast of the last One Piece film, One Piece film Z, on Friday, July 22.
One Piece Film: Gold is set to release in theaters in Japan on July 23. The veteran actress and musician Mayumi Kojima will provide the theme song “Gold & Jive ~ Silver Ocean” and GLIM SPANKY will provide「怒りをくれよ」(ikari wo kureyo) for One Piece Film: Gold. The original soundtrack for the movie is scheduled for release on July 27.
Besides Japan, One Piece Film: Gold has been confirmed to get a theatrical release in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Italy, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Indonesia.

Key visual of the Zou anime arc was announced in June, along with One Piece opening 19. The colored key visual features Straw Hat pirates in their Zou outfits, Cat Viper (also known as Nekomamushi), Dogstorm (also known as Inuarashi), Wanda, Carrot, and the Wano trio. Also, the key visual subtly includes Zunesha in the background.
