Krasse Wertung... Mario Kart DS @ IGN:

Closing Comments
After experiencing Mario Kart DS, it's hard to imagine how Nintendo's going to improve on what they've done for this stunning portable rendition. There's so much gameplay and depth in this design, moreso than the series has ever had in the past. It's an amazingly addictive racer both in single and multiplayer modes, and even with the limitations of the online functions, it's impossible to avoid becoming addicted to the long distance Mario Kart match-ups. The only way to finish this review is just to say it: this is the greatest Mario Kart game ever developed, and is without a doubt the best DS game of 2005.

9.5 Presentation
Incredibly thorough single and multiplayer experience with tons of options to beef up the variety. The online component works simply and elegantly, but it's just a little too restrictive.
9.0 Graphics
Super fast, super smooth 3D engine drives the action. All the Mario-esque elements are represented here, and even though the characters are low-poly they still look fantastic.
9.0 Sound
The happy, peppy Mario style of music continues on its happy and peppy direction. Some voice samples are more compressed than others. Stereo effects are outstanding and work well on the DS speakers.
10 Gameplay
This is the best of the Mario Kart best. Kart and weapon balance is incredibly tight, new track designs are fantastic, and the game has an extraordinary amount of playtime well after
10 Lasting Appeal
If there's any game you'll continuously come back to, it's this one. Single cart, multiple cart, and online multiplayer, and single player finally has "bots" for practicing Battle Mode!
9.5 Incredible

Tony Hawk American Sk8land @ IGN

Closing Comments
If past experience is any indication, we’ll be seeing this DS graphics and gameplay package reused in future product. And if it’s indeed the case, American Sk8land is a fantastic foundation for an even bigger and badder production. Vicarious Vision does the Tony Hawk design extremely well on the DS, it’s just a shame that the Tony Hawk experience has been done so much that it’s tough to get excited for Yet Another Tony Hawk. Even though it’s a been there, done that experience, Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land still a fun, frantic, and fantastic design that works extraordinarily well on the handheld due to its pick-up-and-play, quick-shot construction.

9.0 Presentation
Tons of customization and gameplay options, cool storytelling, better Wi-Fi functions than Nintendo's own game.
9.0 Graphics
The toonshaded appearance both looks great on the DS and works around the DS system's visual limitations.
9.0 Sound
Thirty minutes of great sounding licensed music and actual voice-over work for the cutscenes brings the console experience to the handheld.
8.5 Gameplay
Classic Tony all the way still works great on the DS with some new touch screen elements. Some later challenges are stupidly easy compared to earlier ones, so the difficulty balance is a little off.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
The Wi-Fi focus, combining the DS with website functionality, brings a whole lot of opportunity for bragging rights. Shame two great Tony Hawk modes didn't make the multiplayer cut.
8.8 Great (out of 10 / not an average)

NfS Most Wanted @ IGN:

Closing Comments
Need for Speed Underground 2 for the DS was a good, solid racing game that left some room for improvement. Need for Speed Most Wanted doesn't even try to address the previous game's shortcomings, instead throwing in a huge batch of its own. The game just doesn't gel at all: control is bad, objectives are confusing, and the visuals don't come anywhere near what EA did with the previous DS NFS game. And though there's some challenge here, it's mostly due to simply adopting to all the negatives to try and eke out some fun. The DS already has a good assortment of racers - this one just can't even sputter to the challenge.

4.0 Presentation
Even with the different races, cars, and challenges to unlock, it's incredibly easy to get lost due to lazy menu systems. There's very little fanfare after a win to get excited and move on.
5.5 Graphics
A tremendous step back from Underground 2 on the DS. It's still a smooth 30 FPS, but these are some of the blandest car textures ever. Play in first person mode and it looks acceptable. Barely.
4.5 Sound
Generic hip-hop lacks heart, and in some cases will drive you batty. Car horns and engines are not the real deal.
4.0 Gameplay
Chunky steering control makes things feel entirely robotic. Computer AI opponents can't hide their artificial behavior...they follow some really rigid paths.
5.5 Lasting Appeal
If you can withstand the bland, sluggish gameplay, there's enough challenge here to last an acceptable amount of time.
4.0
Poor OVERALL

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time @ IGN.com

Closing Comments
Partners in Time does a fantastic job following up the already fantastic Superstar Saga on the Game Boy Advance. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time has an even crazier story, funnier dialogue, more elaborate puzzles, and more action-based fights than the original game. But even with all the clever additions the Nintendo DS version brings to the table, the original quest is never left in the dust and is still on the same playing field for those who haven't experienced that handheld adventure yet. And though it doesn't explore the Nintendo DS platform on a technical level, Partners in Time definitely approaches the handheld in extremely creative ways.

9.0 Presentation
The DS design sticks exclusively with the system's two screen functionality and leaves everything else about the handheld alone.
8.0 Graphics
The visual style of the GBA game stays the same on the DS, with very little in the way of whiz-bang effects. The character animation is done well, and always brings a chuckle.
8.5 Sound
Mario and Luigi intentionally speak gibberish, but it works well with the story. The game's soundtrack fits the Marioesque theme with original pieces and remixed classics.
9.0 Gameplay
Fun, amusing, and lengthy adventure that starts out easy but curves up nicely in difficulty and challenge without going too hard.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
You'll be spending twenty hours plus in this meaty single player adventure. Time well spent.
9.0 - Outstanding

Burnout Legends @ IGN.com

Closing Comments
Sometimes you just have to know when to cut your losses. And Burnout on the DS? This should have been on the cutting block the moment the development team realized that the experience couldn’t even come close. The only positive that can be said about this game: at least it runs at 60 frames per second. We’ve played some bad racing games, but Burnout Legends takes the cake. Really.

2.0 Presentation
When you can't even get traffic into Crash Mode, you know that the project is a wash.
4.0 Graphics
It runs at 60 FPS, but the camera system's wonky and there's very little going on in the environments. At least we got the classic Burnout tracks! Yay!
4.5 Sound
No licensed music, which is mostly due to EA saving a dime or two. Instead, enjoy some ear-piercing guitar wanging.
2.5 Gameplay
Poor driving engine, horrible collision detection, and extremely bug-ridden gameplay. And it's piggybacking on Criterion's success?
5.0 Lasting Appeal
Single cartridge multiplayer extends the length if you can handle the wonky driving gameplay, and the single player progression isn't short. You just need patience.
3.5 - Bad

Closing Comments
Would it ruin the game for you to tell you that no gameplay in King Kong on DS actually takes place in New York? I hope so. Anything I can do to keep you away from this game, I'll do it. That screenshot on the box of Kong fighting off planes on the Empire State Building? That's just there to rope fans in, because that climatic sequence -- the one scene that everybody knows of King Kong -- is just an animation, playing out after you read a bunch of text explaining to you after the last Skull Island level that Kong came to NYC and broke his chains and picked up the girl and went for a climb. You don't get to rampage in the city, you don't get to climb the building, you don't get to fight off planes ... you don't even get to enjoy the change in visuals after playing 17 stupidly-short levels that all looked the same. You don't get to live out the one scene that makes us love King Kong.

How fun is that?

2.0 Presentation
It's total Amateur Hour here, from the tiny font on a big, blank screen in dialog to the Save Game selector that has a "delete" button as big as the "continue" button. Oops...
4.0 Graphics
What graphics? I can't see anything!! It's too foggy and it's too dark, and it's all too stupid-looking when I can see.
7.0 Sound
The music score from the film loops around, and your character says "Anne!" a lot. Decent is all it is.
3.5 Gameplay
The shooting stinks. The fighting stinks. The puzzles stink. The bugs problems stink. Enjoy!
0.5 Lasting Appeal
Those 17 levels would be about seven stages in any other game, and they're all on the same boring island. You also can't skip around to stages to replay the good ones ... whatever they may be.
3.0 - Bad
OVERALL

traurig, traurig...
