Monster Hunter X sold 1,542,104 units within its first two days of sale in Japan, according to a Famitsu report. The number includes retail copies, download cards, and the Monster Hunter X Special Pack. (It does not, however, include sales of the download version through the eShop.)
Additionally, 3DS hardware (including 3DS LL, New 3DS, and New 3DS LL) moved a total 133,628 units, compared to the previous week’s 33,203 units.
Here’s Monster Hunter X‘s launch numbers compared to previous big 3DS titles:
(Note: These are all according to Famitsu sales numbers.)
- Pokemon X and Y – 2,096,050
- Monster Hunter 4 – 1,875,115
- Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – 1,617,949
- Monster Hunter X – 1,542,104
Monster Hunter X launched for 3DS in Japan on November 27.
Capcom announced today that Monster Hunter X for the Nintendo 3DS has shipped over two million units since its launch in Japan on November 28, 2015.
Capcom’s report of two million units shipped includes both download cards and sales from the Nintendo eShop.
Here are details on the game from the report:
“Monster Hunter X (Cross)” is a new title that offers players greater possibilities for carrying out their own style of hunting. Utilizing the world and gameplay of previous entries as a starting point, the game is distinguished by its high level of freedom with new elements like Hunter Arts and Hunting Styles, which can be combined with 14 kinds of weapons to create a myriad of fresh ways to play.
Monster Hunter X is available in Japan for Nintendo 3DS.
Capcom released Monster Hunter X last week, and the game sold 1,488,367 copies in its first week on store shelves in Japan. Japanese sales tracker Media Create reports that Monster Hunter X sold through 91.84% of its shipment in its first week.
The total software sales number for the week is 1,979,000 units of all games sold, which makes it 327.81% more than all combined software sales from the week prior. Thanks to the sales of major titles, this is the first time since the last week of July that total software sales of the week are over a million, and it’s also the highest we’ve seen for the entire year.
The new software in Monster Hunter X sold 1,488,367 units in retail (91.84% sell-through, not including digital downloads) making it a million-seller in its first week. Compared to the previous 3DS title from the series, it sold slightly more than Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (roughly 1,446,000 units sold in its first week, and 85.40% sell-through) which released in October of last year.
As far as pre-order comparisons go they were pretty balanced as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate saw around 929,000 pre-orders by the time of its release week, while Monster Hunter X had about 936,000, so it shows that non-pre-order sales got a slight increase in the latter.
One thing to factor in is that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate did not have a downloadable demo (in Japan,) so it may have played a role in getting some extra sales from players that were curious about the game.
Total hardware sales of the week was around 196,000 units—206.19% more than the previous week. With the traction of Monster Hunter X, the New 3DS (including the XL) saw 362.53% more units sold than last week, making it the center of total hardware sales, and it’s likely that many of those New 3DS sales were from users upgrading from other 3DS models or purchasing the device for the game.
It’ll be interesting to see how well Monster Hunter X continues to sell, and also in comparison to other entries from the series.
@SuperTentacle
Was meinst du denn mit Raubkopie?
Monster Hunter X for 3DS has shipped three million units in Japan, Capcom announced. The number includes download cards and Nintendo eShop sales.
The latest entry in the Monster Hunter series shipped 1.5 million in its first two days. It has been on sale in Japan since November 27.
Capcom is planning a number of Monster Hunter initiatives for the new year, beginning in January with Monster Hunter Festa 2016.
Here’s an overview of Monster Hunter X, via Capcom:
Monster Hunter X is a new title that offers individual players greater possibilities in developing their own style of hunting. Utilizing the world and gameplay of previous entries as a starting point, the game is distinguished by its high level of freedom with new elements like Hunter Arts and Hunting Styles, which can be combined with 14 kinds of weapons to create a myriad of fresh ways to play.
In addition to receiving praise for new elements, such as “Nyanter Mode” where players can take on quests as a “Felyne Palico”, the title hit the three million mark within just one month of its release as a result of maintaining user interest via numerous cross-industry collaborations.
