Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II Shows A New Way Of Breaking Objects For Items

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II introduces plenty of new things to the series, such as new transformations called “Next Forms,” along with a new little town Sim system. The official website shows us how it even has a new system for breakable objects in dungeons.

HbyDmuU.png

While exploring dungeons, you’ll come across various obstacles called “Destruction Objects”. These can be broken by using your weapon after acquiring a “Power Bracelet” and leveling up your “Breaker Level”.

When your Breaker Level isn’t high enough, you won’t be able to break objects.

However, if you’re able to break it, then you’ll get a random item from the Destruction Object. There are even some special objects that you won’t be able to break with just a Power Bracelet.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II will release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for PlayStation 4.

Hyperdimension War Neptunia VS Sega Hard Girls introduces original protagonist

Dengeki PlayStation this week has an interview with Compile Heart’s Shingo Onodera and Sega’s Masahiro Nakayama, who discuss the upcoming Hyperdimension Neptunia PS Vita spin-offs.

Get the details below.

Hyperdimension War Neptunia VS Sega Hard Girls: Dream Fusion Special (Announcement)

The game features an original protagonist named Hatsumi Sega. She’s illustrated by Tsunako, and her design is said to be that of a short girl with an S-shaped ponytail.
The game was born out of a separate meeting Ono was supposed to have with Idea Factory. He ended up asking if it was possible for a collaboration with Sega Hard Girls to happen.
Ono had been previously familiar with Neptunia series and wanted to do something since working on planning the original Sega Hard Girls series.
Development is being handled by Felistella and started last fall. The Neptunia Team is contributing art and other visual assets.
The game is an RPG that sees the Neptunia and Sega Hard Girls camps fighting one another.
The main focus character-wise is IF-chan and Hatsumi Sega.
Gameplay systems are vastly different from standard Neptunia games.
There’s attention to detail for the Sega Hard Girls; Saturn, for example, can’t use both of her hands at the same time because of the console’s CPU quirks.

Extreme Dimension Tag Blanc + Neptune VS Zombie Army (Announcement)

The game is being developed by Tamsoft.
It’s not a direct sequel. The story is a school sports-style one (think dramatic involving character tenacity like Ashita no Joe).
Four players can play together at the same time.
All of the characters from Hyperdimension Neptunia U are set to appear.
Everybody is in uniform… because school.

Release dates for both games are unannounced.

Why Is There Guilty Gear Xrd Music In Hyperdimension Neptunia VII?

The Neptunia series is known for its parodies, but developer Compile Heart’s latest stunt may or may not have gone too far. It involves a track heard in Hyperdimension Neptunia VII that sounds strikingly similar to a track from Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-. Naturally, this has raised some eyebrows in Japan. [Thanks, Game Jouhou]

To give you an idea of how similar the two tracks are, here’s a sample from both games:

Start the video above at around the 2:27 mark, and give it a quick listen.

Now, check out Guilty Gear Xrd’s “Magnolia Eclair” track, starting at the 0:36 mark in the above video, and you’ll notice how they’re both very similar.

Finally, a Japanese Youtuber put together the above video, titled “Neptygear Xrd” that makes the comparison a bit more apparent.

After word of all this got around, it appears that Arc System Works director Takeshi Yamanaka caught wind of the matter, and tweeted the following message:

W6IbFKg.png

Yamanaka’s tweet roughly translates to: “If it’s true, then it’s a matter that we can’t ignore.”

Following the tweet by Guilty Gear Xrd director, Compile Heart owner Idea Factory also put a tweet out via their own official Twitter account, stating: “What will happen now?? Stay tuned!”

Yamanaka has since deleted his tweet, and this, combined with the tweet from Idea Factory is now prompting different theories from the Japanese communities watching the situation play out. The simplest theory is that there’s some sort of marketing stunt at play here, and both Arc System Works and Idea Factory are in on it. Yamanaka may not have been privy to these plans, which would explain his tweet (and why it was subsequently removed).

Another theory is obviously that Hyperdimension Neptunia VII has plagiarized music from Guilty Gear, and Idea Factory are trying to make light of the situation with their tweet. Given that there has been no announcement of a collaboration between Idea Factory and Arc System Works or Guilty Gear composer Daisuke Ishiwatari, this theory has its merits as well.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II was released earlier today in Japan.

What’s New In Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II?

Now that Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II released in Japan on PlayStation 4, 4Gamer put together a video that shows off some of the early parts and basics of the game, to give you a little recap on how the game plays. Here’s a summary of the video.

After another look at Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II’s opening video, the video starts out with a look at some of the basics of battle, featuring a party of Neptune, her sister Nepgear, and the new character Uzume.

It gives a short explanation on how it’s more effective to hit enemies from their flank or behind to do more damage, and they’ll also do the same and attempt to do the same towards your party.

They then demonstrate a little on the “Parts Break” feature that can be done by hitting enemies from certain positions for a chance of being able to do more damage against their bodies and armor. Once their armor breaks, their defense lowers and sometimes it’ll prevent them from being able to use skills.

Formation skills are when party members position themselves to have enemies at the center of the connected green lines, which is demonstrated by the party at around the 1:40 mark of the video. Formation skills are powerful, and recommended to use in boss fights.

There’s also a combo-making system, where you can make up your own line of combos that using Rush, Power, and Standard attacks. Depending on what type of weapon you use, attack range will vary, too. Some weapons are strong but have low range, and vice versa.

The video then follows up with a look at a boss fight, and advancing through the story while taking on routes and dungeons. Players who are new to the series won’t have much to worry about, as the game reintroduces all the key characters, so you can catch up on who is who.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II is currently available in Japan for PlayStation 4.
