Famitsu testet Tekken 4

[...]It's the best-looking home fighting game ever released, and it looks better than anything in the arcades too, with the possible exception of Virtua Fighter 4. [...]

[...]Once you get past its graphics--and you will--you'll find that Dead or Alive 3 doesn't offer much of anything that hasn't been done in other 3D fighting games, particularly its own predecessors.[...]

[...]In fact, Dead or Alive 3 plays almost exactly the same as last year's Dead or Alive 2...[...]

[...]Indeed, because of predictable computer artificial intelligence, limited gameplay options, questionable character balance, and more, you'll likely find that Dead or Alive 3 doesn't have much to offer in the long run, even though it is fun to play for a while and is definitely easy on the eyes.[...]

[...]For better or worse, this turned the gameplay of Dead or Alive into a fancy version of rock-paper-scissors. Punches and kicks could be countered with reversals, which could in turn be countered with throws, which could in turn be countered with punches and kicks--and around and around you went.
[...]

[...]The gameplay is identical to that of the previous game, save for the addition of some new moves and several new characters.[...]

[...]Dead or Alive 3 makes it easy for beginners to pick it up and start playing, but that's not to say they'll have an easy time beating experienced players.[...]

[...]Despite that each character has an arsenal of moves, the balance in Dead or Alive 3 is suspect. Faster characters, such as the runaway ninja Kasumi, the Bruce Lee knockoff Jann Lee, and Ninja Gaiden veteran Ryu Hayabusa are extremely powerful, whereas slower fighters, such as the burly Leon and the militant Bayman, need to work harder to win.[...]

[...]Once you've finished the game with every character--and you can do this in an evening--there isn't much left to discover in Dead or Alive 3, at least not for a while. By comparison, Dead or Alive 2 featured multiple hidden outfits, unlockable hidden characters, and more, all of which were reasonably easy to find.[...]

[...]If you want to show off the power of the Xbox, then Dead or Alive 3 is your ticket.[...]

[...]Beyond all that, Dead or Alive 3 is basically very similar to its predecessor. So if you've already mastered previous Dead or Alive games, let alone other 3D fighting games, then you may find that there's very little new for you here.[...]

hört sich nicht gerade positiv an für das was man so aus der xbox-ecke zu dem game hört...

[...]And PlayStation 2 owners couldn't be luckier, because Virtua Fighter 4 is the best fighting game to debut since Namco's superlative Dreamcast version of Soul Calibur back in 1999. Virtua Fighter 4 is also the best game in the series to date:...[...]

[...]...the PS2 version of Virtua Fighter 4 packs some interesting bonus features and the best artificial intelligence hands down of any fighting game.[...]

[...]But the real beauty of it is definitely in the gameplay.[...]

[...]Each returning fighter boasts a number of new abilities, many of which become important additions to their repertoires. Many of the new moves aren't just punches or kicks--they're complex techniques like deflections, reversals, and alternate fighting stances. [...]

[...]Virtua Fighter 4 isn't just for hard-core fighting-game fans--the game is only as complex as you want it to be. While it will definitely appeal to you if you enjoy poring over long-winded character FAQs or spending an evening just practicing the same tough move or combo over and over, you'll also enjoy it if you just want to play for fun.[...]

[...]All of the fighters are competitive, yet all of them are substantially different. There's much more differentiation now between some of the characters who seemed similar to each other in previous installments. [...]

[...]But sooner or later you'll notice that Virtua Fighter 4 rewards skill and precision. The pacing of a typical match is just right--very fast and intense, but not frantic.[...]

[...]You need keen reflexes and an active mind to mix up high, middle, and low strikes to keep your opponent guessing, and you can move in 3D to set up attacks from the sides and sometimes even from behind.[...]

[...]One of the best things about the game is that even if you're not a veteran fighting-game player going into it, it gives you all the tools you need to become one.[...]

[...]Regardless of your skill level, the game's AI does an incredible job of scaling to your abilities and providing a great challenge.[...]

[...]Every game in the Virtua Fighter series has looked terrific, and Virtua Fighter 4 keeps the trend going. The PS2 version looks nearly as good as the arcade version.[...]

[...]...the arenas are amid detailed scenery, including a beach resort, a traditional Japanese dojo, a subterranean river, and that classic fighting-game setting, the Great Wall of China.[...]

[...]The stages in Virtua Fighter 4 may all be square, but there's a good amount of visual variety to them, and some of them sport some really great effects--one is covered in about a foot of snow, which deforms realistically as the characters move through it. Another stage takes place in ankle-deep water that splashes and undulates like the real thing.[...]

[...]You can't tell right off the bat, but Virtua Fighter 4 is the best fighting game in years.[...]

soviel dann dazu...
eventuell poste ich auch noch ein paar screenies zu beiden spielen...
