Nintendo Teams with Brownie Brown for DSiWare

Brownie Brown is entering the downloadable games business with an original puzzle/action title to be published by Nintend on DSi Ware. Nintendo recently shared details on the new game, Kappa Michi.

In Kappa Michi, you act as a guide to Kappa, a big-headed chicken-like creature who does his best to follow the paths you draw with the stylus. Your goal is to lead Kappa to a goal, avoiding traps and obstacles along the way. The word "michi" is Japanese for "road."

You can see videos of the game at the Kappa Michi official site. The videos show how you can make Kappa follow your paths by drawing lines out from the character and extending them to your liking. You can also point the stylus elsewhere in order to grab the screen and scroll around. To help avoid obstacles, you have access to a quick break icon (the scissors in the upper-right of the screen) which makes Kappa freeze in his tracks.

As you move Kappa through the levels, you'll find baby Kappas who need to be rescued. You'll also find yourself being pursued by what looks like a giant hand emerging from a blue flame. Get trapped by this, and the game ends.

The game also features a few mini games and collectables that include bromides and music. The collectables can be purchased with coins that you gather in the main game.

Kappa Michi hits DSi Ware on December 9 at 500 DSi Points.

Erste Bilder zu Jupiter's Second DSiWare Game

2132400699.jpg

Jupiter's first DSiware game had an extremely long title which included some Japanese dude's name. The studio's next DSiware game is much easier to pronounce.

"Panewa" is a block-based puzzle game. Presented with a screen full of red, blue, and yellow blocks, you flip the blocks around in order to create a loop consisting of a single color. All blocks inside the loop then disappear. It's possible to combo your loop carnage for higher scores.

The game includes three modes of play. In Normal Mode, you aim for the high score while clearing panels within a time limit. Tsume Panewa offers 50 puzzles where you clear all the panels on the screen in a limited number of moves. Story Mode take you through a story that's set in Kyoto.

Panewa hits DSiware on December 16 at 500 DSi Points. Visit the official site for a closer look at the characters, and some wallpaper downloads.

Konami Brings Original Rhythm Game to DS

2132400700.jpg

Konami's latest rhythm game is titled Utacchi. Here's the logo.

I see frogs, musical notes, stars, hearts and rainbows. I think there's even a stylus in there (above the first yellow character).

The name "Utacchi" combines the Japanese word for song, "Uta," with the Japanese word for touching things, "Touch" (even old people know that one!).

As detailed at the newly opened product info page, Utacchi is a new rhythm game where you touch something named "Tacchii" in synch with music. You can also play by singing. And you can do it all in multiplayer, apparently, as the game supports up to four players.

Vague enough for you? Konami actually hasn't shared any details on Utacchi outside of the product page. For the record, Konami announces games in this fashion quite often.

Utacchi hits DS on February 25 at ¥5,250.
