Nodame's Tomoko Ninomiya to Take Time Off to Have Baby

Nodame Cantabile manga to go on hiatus until October, when anime restarts

Manga artist Tomoko Ninomiya revealed in an August 11 blog entry that she was several months pregnant and would take a break from drawing the Nodame Cantabile manga to have her baby. Her manga will go on temporary hiatus from Kodansha's biweekly Kiss magazine until the issues that ship in October. She joked about the alien-like gurgling that her baby was making in her stomach, and said she will try her best to return as quickly as possible.

Coincidentally, October is also when the new Nodame Cantabile: Paris anime sequel will premiere in Japan. Viz Media will publish the 15th of the 21 current volumes of the manga in North America in November. The romantic comedy follows two music students as they pursue their dreams in Japan and beyond.

Zweite Staffel von Birdy the Mighty Decode bestätigt

In ihrem offiziellem Blog bestätigten nun die Mitarbeiter von Birdy the Mighty Decode, dass an einer zweiten Staffel gearbeitet wird.

Ausstrahlungstermin wird Jänner 2009 sein.

Die aktuell ausgestrahlte erste Staffel handelt von der Weltraumpolizistin Birdy, die bei einem Auftrag versehentlich den Erdenjungen Tsutomo tötet und sich deshalb ihren Körper mit ihm teilen muss, damit er weiterleben kann. Sobald allerdings die Pflicht ruft, übernimmt sie die Kontrolle und verwandelt sich zurück um gegen die außerirdischen Widersacher zu kämpfen.

NY Anime Fest to Debut Vampire Hunter D Short Story

Kikuchi's "The Wanderer's Ship" was never published, even in Japan

The New York Anime Festival has announced that its Official Guide Book will publish a Vampire Hunter D short story by franchise creator Hideyuki Kikuchi — a story that has never been published anywhere in the world before. Kikuchi wrote "The Wanderer's Ship" for a discussion event in Japan and gave the publishing rights to a fan named Hitomi Yasue. As one of only three fans who was ever given the rights to a Vampire Hunter D short story, Yasue agreed to let New York Anime Festival publish the short story before it has even been published in Japan. Kikuchi will be attending the September 26-28 convention with character designer Yoshitaka Amano (Vampire Hunter D, Gatchaman, Final Fantasy games) and Kevin Leahy, the translator of Kikuchi's Vampire Hunter D novels and this short story.

Kikuchi created the character of D as a half-human, half-vampire hunter of vampires in a desolate far future. DMP has already imported Kikuchi's original novels to North America in English. DMP is also releasing a manga version that is illustrated by Saiko Takaki, a former dōjinshi artist personally selected by Kikuchi, while Devil's Due Publishing will publish a separate American comic version. Streamline Pictures and Urban Vision both released the 1985 anime video adaptation in North Amercia, while Urban Vision also released the 2000 movie version, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

Hab auch mal die Relation korrigiert. Wollen ja einem solch genialen OVA ne korrekte MAL-Page gönnen.

Ich freue mich auch schon auf Chäos;Head. Auch wenn ich wohl vorher erst den VN spielen werde. Je nachdem, was erst fertig ist.

Und zu Clannad: Der Trailer hat gerade mein Interesse wiedererweckt.
Ich weiss nun, welches Ending sie benutzen. Und sehe, dass KyoAni mal wieder top Animationen eingebaut hat. Ist ein komplett anderes Gefühl, das ganze nochmal animiert zu erleben.

Wie meinst du das, dass er nicht mal in der Animeliste drin ist?

Was mich wundert, dass es keine japanische Seite dazu gibt und auf der Seite vom 1. teil kein Hinweis zum 2.Teil ist. =/

Oishinbo's Akira Hanasaki Draws Nobō no Shiro Manga

Ryō Wada's feudal-era novel adapted; GTO's Fujisawa also starts manga

The 38th issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine has announced on Monday that several new manga series will be launched in September. The 42nd issue will start the manga adaptation of Ryō Wada's Nobō no Shiro novel (pictured at right) by Oishinbo artist Akira Hanasaki on September 13. The novel, which is set in the violent Warring States period of Japan, is also being developed as a movie. In the story, the fuedal lord Hideyoshi is slowly unifying Japan by conquest, but one hidden fortress has yet to fall. Nagachika Narita is the heir to "Nobō's castle" that "floats" in a lake, and he is a hero to his people — even though he is not wise, compassionate, or even particularly brave.

The 43rd issue will launch a new, as-yet-unnamed manga by Great Teacher Onizuka's (GTO's) Tohru Fujisawa on September 22. Fujisawa just started another serialized manga called Animal Joe in the same magazine last December, but Fujisawa is unlikely to be drawing two manga in the same magazine.

The 40th issue, which ships on September 1, will also launch the Kamome Chance manga from Omega Drive creator Yukio Tamai. The 41st issue will start an unnamed two-part manga by sports manga artist Natsuko Heiuchi (Offside) as well as the relaunches of former Young Sunday titles Kurosagi, Mogura no Uta, Ikigami -Ultimate Limit-, Birdy the Mighty, and Tomehane! Suzuri Kōkō Shodōbu. Lost Man will pick up where it left off at Young Sunday's cancellation in Big Comic Spirits' 42nd issue.

Viz Media will be releasing its first volume of Oishinbo in North America next January. Tokyopop released GTO and the Shonan Junai-gumi (GTO: The Early Years) spinoff manga n North America.

Samurai Champloo, Ergo Proxy's manglobe to launch anime in October

The official Japanese website for the Michiko to Hatchin anime series has begun streaming its second trailer today. Unlike the first trailer, this new two-minute video contains significant amounts of actual footage from the series. The title's Michiko Malandro (center photograph) is a free-spirited "sexy diva" who destroys a supposedly inescapable prison fortress, while Hana "Hatchin" Morenos (top photograph) is a girl fleeing her strict foster parents. The two join forces on an improbable escape to freedom, with a woman named Atsuko Jackson in hot pursuit.

The trailer highlights the series script supervisor Takashi Ujita (live-action Freesia film), character designer Hiroshi Shimizu (animation director on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi), music composer Kassin, music producer Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo), and director Sayo Yamamoto (episode director on Samurai Champloo, Ergo Proxy). The trailer also emphasizes that this "next-generation collaboration of Latino beat animation" is the third original anime project from Samurai Champloo and Ergo Proxy's manglobe studio. Michiko to Hatchin premieres in Japan in October.

Yoko Kanno Makes Voice Cameo in Genius Party Beyond

1st known voice-acting role for Cowboy Bebop/Esca/Macross composer

The official Japanese website for Studio 4°C's Genius Party Beyond anthology of film shorts has confirmed that composer Yoko Kanno (Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, Macross Plus and Frontier) made a voice-acting cameo in Koji Morimoto's "Dimension Bomb" short. Although Kanno's music can be heard in dozens of anime projects, this is the first known anime voice-acting role that Kanno has taken.

The British electronic music group Juno Reactor is composing the music for "Dimension Bomb," although Kanno composed the music in the first Genius Party film's "Baby Blue" short from Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Macross Plus). Kanno also scored Studio 4°C's experimental films Noiseman Sound Insect and Mind Game. (Morimoto directed Noiseman and supervised some of the animation in Masaaki Yuasa's Mind Game.)

Genius Party Beyond made its worldwide premiere in Washington, D.C. in a showing attended by Morimoto, Watanabe, and fellow director Mahiro Maeda ("Gala," The Animatrix's "Second Renaissance"). The film will open in Japan on October 11.

Yoko Kanno hat wirklich sehr tolle Lieder geschrieben (sei es, Macross Plus, Macross 7, Macross Zero, Macross F, Turn A Gundam, Aquarion, Brain Powerd, Ghost in the Shell, Card Captor Sakura (OP), Rahxephon etc.), ich kenne wirklich kein Lied von ihr, das wirklich schlecht ist

New Fullmetal Alchemist TV Anime Series Confirmed


Announcement to be made on Hiromu Arakawa's latest manga volume

The wraparound jacket band on the 20th volume of Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist manga will confirm on Friday that a new television anime series is in the works. A new anime series was a topic of much fan discussion for several months, but it was thrust into a more public spotlight last month when a management document was purportedly leaked from the BONES anime studio. The document listed Fullmetal Alchemist animator Yasuhiro Irie as "Hagane 2 kantoku" (Iron/Fullmetal 2 director).

After the purported leak, BONES President Masahiko Minami posted an official statement that said that no file with this same formatted information existed within the company. When asked about the possibility of a sequel to Fullmetal Alchemist or Darker than BLACK (another BONES anime), Minami told ANN, "It hasn't been decided yet. We are interested in doing them. As original science-fiction works, they were extremely fascinating. With these kinds of dramatic story lines, I feel that there's a lot we could do potentially."

Viz Media will publish the 17th volume of the manga version in North America this October, while FUNimation Entertainment released both the first television series and its theatrical movie finale.

Freut mich, da in den letzten beiden Folgen wieder ne Menge interessanter sachen passiert sind. Das lässt genügend Zeit für einen guten Storyauf- und Charakterausbau.

...aber schraubt mal bitte an den Animationen!
