Hello world! In the rush since launch it’s come to our attention that we haven’t really taken the time to introduce ourselves in terms of the culture we hope to foster here. After an eventful few days, we’ve fielded questions about how and why we choose who gets to use our site as a platform, and answered some pointed criticism as well. We think this is a good opportunity to speak about our values and explain why they are so important to us.
Everything we do begins and ends with the community. A community that decided with one voice, without any direction from above, what it believed in and what it would stand for.
It was not fate that kept us united. A happy ending was never guaranteed. Picture this: Thousands of people, scattered across dozens of Discord channels, all deciding in unison that we were going to stick together. It's an unlikely story, and one that would never have been possible if we allowed ourselves to be divided by what we looked like or where we came from or who we loved. We are only here because we were not divided. And today we would like to make it clear that we never will be.
If you are new to our community, we welcome you with open arms. What we ask is that you be aware of our history, of what we went through to get here, and what values we cannot compromise on. Women, minorities, and LGBTQ have all played key roles in making ResetEra happen. This is a place where their concerns can be aired without fear of intimidation or petty sniping. This is a place where respect and decency will always matter.
We cannot police the whole internet, but we can set standards for our community. If those standards were unclear before, we expect they are no longer. This is who we are.
This is ResetEra.
