Greg's input:
Second favorite movie - Movie 6 was his first.
Shiki's desire to take over the world is as deep as the story goes. There's no underlying thought behind it.
It does NOT boil down to a rescue story (Nami).
It's a little too much story (for Greg). He's one of Oda's most strict reviewers, though.
Water goes through Nami's cleavage for some fan service. Not TOO much in the story, though.
Boss the giant beetle (from the filler) is in the movie.
Animals don't get as much time as originally pitched. They dwindle out by the end of the first half.
The comedy in the movie was HILARIOUS.
There are points in the movie where the tension is EXTREMELY high ("he just shot that guy for giving him an incorrect weather prediction") but then the laughs start.
Inappropriate sounding footsteps are funny. Come up during tense situation.
Brook has some amazing lines. Usopp has best part in movie.
Usopp has a NEW ATTACK. Pretty cool.
First 30 minutes are better than anything we've ever seen from One Piece.
Theme of movie is Evolution.
Nothing in the movie called 'Strong World'.
Luffy, Zoro and Sanji get their own fights. Sanji's fight is respectable. Zoro's is a shame - he whipped out Asura (but Greg felt like he didn't need to use it).
Last four words of the movie made the audience cry and smile. He's not going to reveal what they are.
No movie 11 teaser after the credits.
Zoro does NOT take his shirt off.
According to Volume 0, this is Luffys last battle as a 17 year old. Whether that has to do with Strong World of the main series, its a bit ambiguous. This does NOT imply a timeskip.
No Haki in the movie at all.
The line outside was ridiculous.
Audience reaction - Everyone was really happy. Some crying a little bit. Most smiling. People of all ages (everything from children to lolita goths to jean-tight guys to punks/almost gangster to parents - no real older folks).
It was so packed that people were standing in the back.
The guns - Cool but nothing we haven't already seen. There's no blood flying and flesh being ripped. In the end, no real reason to bust in like that. They throw guns away and start fighting with fists.
The annoying child of the movie wasn't in there too long so it's not bad.
Billy (the giant bird) is pretty cool. Luffy names him. Shiki, Scarlet and Indigo (his lackeys) are really big people.
Robin gets the least airtime of the Strawhats.
Franky does some really awesome shit.
Pandaman cameo - Definitely.
Chopper did not go ballistic dealing with the giant animals.
Looks pretty bad for Shiki (the ending). Open to interpretation as to whether he was killed or not.
Crazy music and dancing in the first 30 minutes.
The opening everything was really good.
The story isn't told in order for the first part. You're dropped into the middle of the craziness. THEN it goes into the actual introduction.
It's like "Cowboy Bebop" but One Piece.
The movie lived up to the hype of an average One Piece fan. If you're SUPER into it and follow every little detail, it doesn't live up to the hype.
Everything that Oda said and hyped about it, it's true.
Luffy's final attack was really cool. BIIIIIIIIIG impact. Big time.
Greg wouldn't want Oda to do a movie again... until he's done with the manga.
Usopp had some really cool, manly lines.
Luffy gets PISSED at Nami. Like... nearly as bad as Movie 6 anger. His scream was so loud that Greg had to close his ears (he doesn't know whether it was intended or technician's fault). He destroys a small mountain out of anger.
Soundtrack is mindblowingly awesome. Sound effects are even more astounding.
Garp and Sengoku are chilling on the top of Marineford. Shiki appears. "THIS IS A WARNING". Picks up all the ships around Marineford and then drops them all.
This is the movie debut of one of the most important characters EVER PWNgoat.
Anything he touches will fly. One catch: He can't make living things fly.
He chooses Nami because of her navigator skills.
He's got a weather station in the ship hull + tons of scientists on his ship. Compared to Nami, they all suck.
The trailer gives you a good impression of the movie. Only a few surprising things (how things wrapped around/tied together), there was nothing that was like OHSHIT PLOT POINT.
Original teaser - None of the video was used in the movie.
Guys who does Freeza's Japanese voice - Voice for Doctor Indigo. A REALLY good voice match, apparently. Scarlet (the red gorilla) is great.
Shiki + Scarlet + Indigo interaction is hilarious. Their opening scene is one of the most memorable scenes in One Piece movies to date.
He can stir up any kind of element (like dirt) and forms them into giant lions that attack.
Oda's favorite animal: Forest Octopus
The (tiny kamikaze red) bulls are Greg's favorite characters. The bulls can shoot themselves at people. Bulls pop up from cherryblossom tree and attack Sanji and Usopp. The bears are fuckwin, too.
Even the creatures that show up for a second or two (in the corner of the screen), he's designed all of them.
There is NO Sogeking appearance. Sorry, guys! Usopp's the only one in the movie with a new attack.
Tone Dial on cover = really important. Related to those final four words.
For any naysayers, the movie is REALLY good.
