Xbox360 Games of X360 (neu)

Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the Xbox 360. This is not a rumor. This is straight from a Konami distribution representative’s mouth. The game is already in production and has been since early 2007. Complete details after the jump:

No, the rep will not be named, but this is pretty concrete. Speaking to a Konami rep at an undisclosed distribution meeting, I was told, after a lot of nagging, that yes indeed MGS was in development for the 360. The rep stated that Metal Gear Solid will be released for the Xbox 360 between 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version hits shelves. This is not a rumor.

I contacted Microsoft’s own John Porcaro via email shortly after I spoke to the Konami rep to see if I could get anything from Microsoft’s public relations team. Below is the response I received. Needless to say it’s the most I’ve ever gotten out of MS PR team member.

Thanks for the heads up, [name removed]. For anything that resembles any shift in strategy, or product announcement, or even news of something happening with a third party, we’re always going to stick with “we haven’t announced anything about <fill in the blank.>” Every day we see rumors, most false, but some true, and we can’t confirm/deny everything out there for any number of reasons.

Publishing rumors doesn’t rub us the wrong way. If it weren’t for sites publishing rumors, there wouldn’t be much for most sites to talk about J. There really only are a few things that will rub us the wrong way: publishing content given under NDA, getting/publishing confidential information from people who are under NDA, invading/hacking systems where confidential information is housed without permission to gather information, making false/racial/sexual/inappropriate personal attacks, deliberately publishing false/misleading information, you get the idea.

As for retailers/employees/partners intentionally leaking information, we pay rather close attention to how/when those occur. If it happens that one site happens to get regular access to confidential information, I end up getting bombarded with questions from around the company about the relationship we have with the site, with what kind of access we’re giving the site, etc. Not pleasant for my team, especially because we’re doing everything we can to help community, not limit their access in any way.

I appreciate the note. I certainly will share everything I can, and I’ll often rattle enough cages to get to an acceptable answer. In this case, there’s really nothing we can say other than the obligatory “no comment.”

You can call this a rumor, as the news may be hard to swallow for many who have read the constant denials from Konami, but this is straight from a Konami distribution rep’s mouth. And I have never gotten a response like this from Microsoft before. To write that much, I can’t help but think Porcaro had no idea what to say. The fact that he brings up "leaking information" has us a little worried, but again, we're not naming any names.

Again, Metal Gear Solid will be on the Xbox 360 12 to 14 months after the PS3 version hits shelves. That means we already know one of the biggest titles for 2009. It doesn’t mean too much considering the game will be a year old, but it does finally put to rest the rumors and speculation.

Tales of Vesperia

Trüffel-Games ... gefällt mir ;)

Starcraft 2 coming for Xbox 360?

Here at Altgn, we received an interesting piece of information from a regular poster on our boards. He was taking quizzes through the Microsoft Retail Zone, which is a website interface used to further educate employees of electronic retail stores. While taking the quiz for “Universe at War”, he stumbled upon a cool little gem that might come to pass.

6. Which of the following are defining features of Universe at War?

1. The first ever Xbox 360/PC cross-platform RTS
2. Tactical dynamics create the best RTS until Starcraft 2.
3. Truly unique factions and customization
4. Free one-month Games for Windows LIVE Gold subscription
5. All of the above
6. None of the above

Could this be an unintentional sign given by Microsoft that the long awaited Starcraft 2 will be coming to Xbox 360? As some might remember, Blizzard allowed ports of Starcraft to both the Nintendo 64 and the Playstation. Ports of recent PC RTCs have come to 360 such as Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2, and Command and Conquer 3. Both have been received well by console gamers because of their impressive control schemes, previously a massive hurdle to jump for previous RTS console ports. Whether this is simply a misunderstanding or not, this is an exciting rumor nonetheless.

Rumor Mill: Crysis Coming to 360 in November?

First off, neither Crytek nor EA have (yet) officially stated that a 360 version (or PS3 for that matter) of Crysis is being developed. In fact, the closest hint to such a merger we’ve been alluded to was given here. Either way, I think it would be presumptuous to pass off CryENGINE2 as being PC only. I’d almost bet that Crytek is diligently working (as we speak) at getting some form of the engine working on the 360 and PS3 (Crysis isn’t going to be the only game using the engine). Only time will tell if we will ever see Crysis making it onto the consoles. So until then, we speculate.

With that said, it’s all fun and games to speculate such things. Which is why one forum goer over at the inCrysis forums decided to share a recent find with the Crysis community there. It seems an electronic store (link here) over in Austria has among its various listings (which I preserved above) of Crysis for PC a couple of listings of Crysis for the Xbox 360. The most interesting detail to note here is the release date given for those: November 20, 2008. I can’t say I’ve ever heard of this particular online retailer much less any clue to their reputation. If it’s truly a leak of some kind, then it’s one that deserves some refuting.

Then again, November is still quite a ways off.

:rofl3: Mir egal.

There are still a few days before the New Year officially dawns upon us. But the industry is in no mood to slow down. If you guys thought that 2007 was one of the biggest years, it would be a mere understatement, for 2008 shall bring us to our knees for it is the return of the prodigal son on his favorite console and this epic drama under the guise of an espionage game gets better and better each time we witness it in motion. (Drum Roll) and Snake slithers onto our television screens.

It seems absolutely impossible to notice that Microsoft is unfazed by Metal Gear Solid 4, the titan of all games released during the year on the PS3. Splinter Cell: Conviction might not be powerful enough to scratch our beloved Solid Snake, so Microsoft has decided to bring something as brilliant as the game on the 360.Word has it that the company is in collaboration with a highly talented studio that can give their Xbox 360 something way better than Snake.

According to sources, Microsoft executives saw a brief demo of the game and came back thoroughly impressed. The core gameplay mechanics has somewhat been finalized, but the studio is yet to decide on the gameplay perspective (first person Vs third person). The game is rumored to take place in the future and will incorporate major political events that have occurred in the last few years. The studio has managed to pull off visuals that were previously thought to be next to impossible on the Xbox 360 and is supposed to look better than any PS3 game that has been shown or is available on the platform exclusively till date.

Metal Gear loggerheads and fanatics are going to have an insanely twisted time with the game, says the source. Watch out for further announcements regarding this uber-title sometime in the middle of 2008.
