If you're old enough to remember playing and loving the Thief franchise (which started WAAAAAAYYYYYY back in 1998 and set the tone for stealth) you will absolutely LOVE this announcement: Eidos Montreal will be showing off Thief IV on May 11.
There are unfortunately, not much in the way of details just yet (fitting perhaps?) but according to former Eidos CEO Rob Dyer back in 2005, theres a strong possibility the follow-up may take place in modern times and not the medieval settings that helped make the series so grand.
"People want another Thief, too. We'll make that series more modern, though...the medieval thing's run its course," Dyer said.
Originally the game was in development with Ion Storm Austin, before they folded in 2005. Still, there is much to be hopeful for, not the least of which is how the game will look and move on current consoles. As an owner of the first two games, Ièm very excited for this one, and hope that they do right by Looking Glass Studios (RIP).
