Samurai Warriors 4-II On PC Uses Character Models From PS4, Says Koei

The PC version of Samurai Warriors 4-II will use character models from the PlayStation 4 version of the game, Koei Tecmo Europe said to an enquiring player over Twitter.

In response to a fan asking if the textures of the PC version would be on-par with the PS4 build of the game, Koei responded: “As much as we know the character models are based on PS4 quality for SW4-II PC, we will keep you updated.”

In the past, PC users have criticized Koei Tecmo over PC versions of their games. Two examples of this are Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends and Dead or Alive 5: Last Round not taking advantage of the platform’s strengths, and in some cases looking inferior to their PlayStation 4 counterparts. For example, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round on PC is missing certain graphical effects that are present on the PS4. (In fact, that game is still missing online multiplayer—a standard feature on consoles—as well.)

It’s worth pointing out that Koei Tecmo have only suggested that Samurai Warriors 4-II’s character models specifically are based on the PS4 version of the game. How the rest of the game looks on PC remains to be seen.

Yes, Samurai Warriors 4-II Will Have Online Multiplayer On PC

Things are looking relatively promising for the PC port of Samurai Warriors 4-II. Shortly after stating that the PC version of the game would contain character models based on the PlayStation 4 build, Koei Tecmo also confirmed that the PC version will include online multiplayer.

Koei revealed the tidbit about online multiplayer to an enquiring fan over Twitter, who asked if the option would be included in the PC build of the game.

This is important because the PC version of Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends was released without online multiplayer, whereas the option for online was included in the console versions of the game. The same goes for Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires.

Meanwhile, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round on PC lacks online as well, although Koei Tecmo have pledged to add the option via a free future update. Just when this update will be released has not been announced, though.

Samurai Warriors 4-II will be released this October.

Samurai Warriors 4: Empires Announced For PS4, PS3, And Vita

Samurai Warriors 4 is getting and Empires version, which adds more of a strategic element to the hack-and-slash title, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita, Koei Tecmo announced in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Hachima]

Samurai Warriors 4: Empires will add more strategic elements than ever, Koei claim, including a new “Resident Domestic Administrations” feature. There will also be a room where you can work on developments and issuing commands to the military commanders by configuring their placements, making it much easier than before.

The story of the game will advance as you take suggestions from military commanders, and depending on the affinity between the military commanders that have been placed in the battlefield, there will be different effects going on in the Resident Domestic Administrations.

Samurai Warriors 4: Empires’ concept is is “the ultimate land-conquering Musou,” but rather than being able to force your way through with powerful military commanders, it will be balanced in a way where you must carefully prepare everything through internal affairs before having the action take place.

The base of the game comes from Samurai Warriors 4-II. While there won’t be any new Musou commanders from the 56 that appears in Samurai Warriors 4-II, there will be over 100 female military commanders.

Additionally, the game will have marriage events, edit features, and more. Samurai Warriors 4: Empires will release in Japan on September 3, 2015 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.

First look at Samurai Warriors 4: Empires

Famitsu has gone up with its online preview of the newly announced Samurai Warriors 4: Empires.

The Empires series is one derivation of the Warriors series. Its a fusion of country conquering with action packed large scale battles reminiscent of the Warriors series. In each release of Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, you control the basic foot soldiers as well as the commanders who have their own specific graphics. One of the highlights is that the story is not set in place, you can conquer kingdoms as you see fit with the commanders of your choosing.

The battles in Samurai Warriors 4: Empires involve pushing the position of your frontline and gaining control as you aim for the enemy’s headquarters. Each location is tied to a supply line, so the more you secure, the more advantageously you’ll be able to fight. Also, like seen on the right, the option to designate ally troops to specific objectives is brought back as well, adding to the sensation of a joint struggle!

Samurai Warriors 4-II Offers Challenge And Survival Modes

Koei Tecmo has provided ample details about some of Samurai Warriors 4-II’s gameplay modes and characters. The Endless Castle will allow people to take on both a Challenge and Survival Mode to test their skills, perhaps with one of the four samurai that are the focus of the latest screenshots.

The Endless Castle Survival Mode, depicted in the video above, sees if someone can find their way out of a castle before their health or time runs out. Any character can be used in Survival Mode, and could earn weapons and mounts for Story Mode from completing levels that get more and more difficult. Gates to higher levels will open as one plays, and objectives like defeating mystery officers may appear.

The Endless Castle also contains four different Challenge Mode Chambers. Each one has a different objective. The Samurai Warriors 4-II trailer released by Koei Tecmo shows the Chamber of Agility, which has a goal of reaching a certain point while defeating standard enemies along the way. The Chamber of Death has enemies capable of inflicting mortal blows, the Chamber of Riches is about collecting as much gold as possible within a set time, and the Chamber of Trials tasks people with defeating as many enemies as possible while timed.

Samurai Warriors 4: Empires details Castle feature

Koei Tecmo has revealed detailed information on the Castle, the biggest new feature in the upcoming Samurai Warriors 4: Empires.

Get the information below.

The Castle

The Castle provides gamers with a single, intuitive dashboard for all their pre and post battle decisions and elevates the game from a tactical action title to a strategy focused epic. It plays a very important role in the Samurai Warriors 4 Empires as it is essentially a command center from where the player can regulate interior and foreign affairs, formulate political and military strategy, and utilize their allied officers’ skills to grow their army’s number, power, and loyalty.

Starting of as a cluster of small rooms and growing to a multi-tiered stronghold, players can use the Castle interface to assign various tasks and Magistrate titles to their most trusted and valued allied officers. These tasks can vary from Recruitment to Diplomacy and from Development to Strategy. Regardless of the direction the player chooses to take, a careful, skill-based selection of allies will wield better results (i.e. more soldiers, more allies, more gold etc).

Relationships

As relationships are pivotal to all Empires games, pairing allied officers with a friendly disposition will create high synergy, which would produce faster and better results. Furthermore, since all officers in Samurai Warriors 4: Empires are based in historical figures with real personalities, assigning them to an appropriate position will generate unique suggestions and trigger specific events!

Battle Preparation

Aside from recruitment, commerce, provisions and the other domestic and political affairs, the Castle can also be used to prepare for battle. The Military Magistrate would analyse the situation and will make proposals to aid in battle, Foreign Affairs Magistrates would suggest alliances and diplomatic interventions, while Strategists would present the player with ideas for sabotaging and weakening the enemy. With their assistance, players can then choose how to charge the battlefield: how big an army to take along, how many provisions or gold to invest, and whether a diplomatic solution is preferable to conflict.

Samurai Warriors 4: Empires will launch for PlayStation 4 via retail and digital, and PS3 and PS Vita digitally on March 15 in North America and March 11 in Europe.
