In January 2005, Satoru Iwata went ahead and finalized his vision of the new Nintendo R&D structure. When Hiroshi Yamauchi first developed the games division of Nintendo with Hiroshi Imanish, the two men envisioned 4 development groups competing against each other. The 4 original emperors were Gunpei Yokoi, Genyo Takeda, Masayuki Uemura and Shigeru Miyamoto. In the 1990's the two main competing groups taking center stage were R&D1 (Yokoi) and R&D4 (Miyamoto). Yokoi's team concentrated on the hand helds, and Miyamoto's team on the consoles. The popularity of the Super Famicom entries of Mario and Zelda titles, propelled Miyamoto's group to become the favored R&D group of Nintendo. Miyamoto renamed his development team to EAD, and alongside Takashi Tezuka have produced countless succesful titles for the past 20 years.
Iwata however noticed an imbalance in the old development structure. Iwata also faced an issue of having several directors and designers with many years of experience who wanted to keep climbing the ladder and be given a chance to rise above the Miyamoto name.
The solution was promoting Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka to equal roles of General Producers who would over see and manage the entire software development R&D of Nintendo. The development staff itself was all merged under the EAD name, but broken into several seperate divisions all under the jurisdiction of a new manager and producer. Each development group houses a pattern of having two individual development teams within.
The following are the confirmed game development divisions of the new Nintendo.
Executive Producer
Satoru Iwata
Note: The boss.
General EAD Producers
Shigeru Miyamoto
Takashi Tezuka
Note: Responsible for approving game projects, concepts specific to each game, supervising development, and quality control.

Recent Development: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCN), The Legend of Zelda: DS (NDS)
Notes: Eiji Aonuma controls the most R&D at Nintendo. Aonuma is in charge the development team responsible for Wind Waker, and most of the team responsible for Four Swords Adventures. The team is working on the last big GameCube game, a new Zelda DS game, and an early Zelda engine for Revolution.
Nintendo Co., LTD
Entertainment Analysis & Development - Software Development Group ? (Eguchi)
Manager & Producer: Katsuya Eguchi

The two Wario Ware game sequels needed programming assistance from Intelligent Systems. It is believed that the brunt of Sakamoto's team is working on Metroid Dread, thus the need for Intelligent Systems to assist in the two Wario Ware games which was still designed by Sakamoto's designers.
Nintendo Co., LTD
Entertainment Analysis & Development - Software Development Group ?(Sawano)
Manager & Producer: Takao Sawano
