PLAYSTATION®Network upgrade: Tuesday 08 May

Over the next few weeks, some new and exciting changes will take place in the PLAYSTATION®Store. In preparation for this, both PLAYSTATION®Network and PLAYSTATION®Store need to be taken offline for a short while to allow us to carry out the upgrade and maintenance work.

This is scheduled to take place between 16:00 and 19:00 BST (17:00-20:00 CEST) on Tuesday 8th May 2007.

If you are already logged into an online game during this time, you will most likely find that you can continue playing as normal, but you will not be able to log in or start a new game until full service has been restored. You will also not be able to access the Store during this maintenance window.

We are hoping to complete this work in as short a time as possible and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. But remember that these enhancements are paving the way for new and exciting content that we have planned for the Store

Sony's P2P Network


According to an unnamed source, we have received word that Sony has developed a Peer to Peer (P2P) file sharing network that will allow users to seamlessly watch and share movies. There won’t be any hassles to deal with involving the use of the network. The system works on the premise that one simply downloads the specific file and the movie will automatically begin playing. To expand on this network, we’ve heard that they’re planning to integrate the service into “Home”, Sony’s new online avatar-driven platform. Creating this service and offering it within "Home" would only further Sony's attempts at offering the ultimate multi-media experience. As of now, this is only a rumor, we'll have to wait till Sony openly confirms this.

EDIT: I'd like to state that I listed this as a rumor because i'm still waiting to see what Sony/Grouper has to say. Our source says that this is VERY real though and that it's based off Groupers P2P technology, who as you all know was bought by Sony.

Lots to tell! We’ve just got out after two days of presentations from the PlayStation team on what’s instore on the PS Network, among other things! So, keep an eye out on Three Speech over the next week or so for interviews with David Jaffe (God of War/Calling all Cars etc), more info about LittleBigPlanet and Warhawk (which is looking great by the way), new downloadable titles and plenty more exciting announcements.

Wo stand das denn? Ich war wohl zu beschäftigt mit der Inbetriebnahme der PS3, dem Downloaden von Tekken und dem Bestaunen dieser edlen Konsole!
