One Piece Film: Gold Theatrical Release Planned for Malaysia

The localization wheels for One Piece Film: Gold are officially on the move!

GSC Movies, a Malaysian distributor, lists One Piece Film: Gold for a theatrical release on August 18. According to their official website, One Piece Film: Gold will be released in Malaysian theaters with the Japanese audio track and the English subtitles. The full list of theaters is to be unveiled later.

Prior to Malaysia, it was prematurely announced by Nürnberg’s Cinecittà multiplex that One Piece Film: Gold will be heading to Germany and Austria in late July. However, the announcement was immediately pulled after the news broke, and Kazé did not confirm the release. Regardless, it looks like the international companies are gradually wrapping up their preparations for the localization of the movie overseas. Let’s hope that the next distribution company to announce the movie’s acquisition is none other than FUNimation.

One Piece Film: Gold is set to release in Japan on July 23. The movie seems to mostly be set in the One Piece world’s biggest golden “entertainment city,” the Gran Tesoro. The Gran Tesoro, a giant entertainment city run by Gild Tesoro and his other Tesoro crew members, is also known as an independent state recognized by the World Government.

One Piece episodes are simulcast in a number of countries, and is currently available on the official websites for Crunchyroll,FUNimation, and One Piece Official. The newly announced One Piece Box Set 3: Thriller Bark to New World (volumes 47-70) will be available for purchase from October 4.

One Piece Film: Gold Sets Sails to Hong Kong, Taiwan

The theatrical release schedule for One Piece Film: Gold keeps on coming!

One Piece Film: Gold is all set for a theatrical release in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Neofilms, a film distribution company in Hong Kong announced on April 28 that One Piece Film: Gold will release in the local theaters in Hong Kong on Thursday, July 28. In addition, the Taiwanese company, autoaiD has also confirmed that One Piece Film: Gold will come to Taiwanese theaters from August 12 to 14 as a part of special screening. The movie will officially hit the local theaters on August 19.

One Piece Film: Gold Guest Voice Actors Announced, New Character Info

On May 10, Yahoo News Japan released the names of several guest voice actors who will appear in the upcoming One Piece Film: Gold, including the much anticipated voice actor for the dealer of the Tesoro Pirates, Dice.

Kendo Kobayashi, an actor who has appeared in live-action films such as Yatterman and Ghostwriter Hotel, will be playing the role of the gargantuan Dice. It’s also revealed that Dice may have a bit of a masochistic side to him! While that seems a bit unexpected for such a large man, this quirk is sure to provide some great gags throughout the movie. Kobayashi himself is a great One Piece fan, professing that he has read the series since its inception in 1997 and that he owns all the volumes of the manga.

Other guests include veteran actor Arata Furuta, comedian and impressionist Korokke, and “Koro Koro Chicken Peppers” comedy duo member Nadaru. Furuta is set to play two characters: Kent Beef Jr.* and his partner, Pork. Kent and Pork are evidently “turtle car racers” who challenge Luffy and his crew to an exciting race. Korokke will voice another turtle car racer named Jimmy Meyers, as well as the red-eyed guard owls seen in the trailer. Lastly, Nadaru will take on the role of Mokin, a member of the Long Long Pirates.

Additionally, Twitter user Raku posted the above screen cap last week of the popular Japanese morning show Mezamashi TV. The screenshot appears to show the announcement of another guest voice actor: Okarina from the all-female comedy troupe “Okazu Club.” She appears to play the role of a large snapping turtle with goggles which yells “Kame!” or “Turtle!” Could this be Film: Gold‘s mascot character?

Certain CP-0 Members Confirmed for One Piece: Film Gold (Manga Spoilers!)

Two more characters from a certain secret government organization have been added to the One Piece: Film Gold roster.

Rob Lucci and Spandam will make their first official movie appearance in One Piece: Film Gold. Formerly known as the strongest member of CP9, Lucci made his return in chapter 801 of the One Piece manga, along with Spandam, who was formerly the chief of CP9. As confirmed in chapter 801, both Lucci and Spandam will appear in One Piece: Film Gold as a part of CP-0, one of the top-notch intelligence organizations in the One Piece universe. However, the extent of their role in the movie is not known at the moment.

The film will be directed by Hiroaki Miyamoto, who also worked on Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island as the assistant director, and was written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who wrote the live action Liar Game: The Final Stage and Liar Game: Reborn films, as well as the live-action Black Butler film. The movie seems to mostly be set in the One Piece world’s biggest golden “entertainment city,” the Gran Tesoro. Achtung Spoiler zur Film Gold

One Piece Film: Gold Official Artwork for Lucci, Spandam, Sabo, and Koala Unveiled

Following up on the earlier press release, the official Japanese website for One Piece has unveiled the character artwork for Lucci, Spandam, Sabo, and Koala for their appearance in One Piece Film: Gold. The website also confirms that the voice actors for Lucci, Spandam, Sabo, and Koala, who voiced them in the One Piece anime, will be reprising their roles for One Piece Film: Gold.

Consequently, Rob Lucci, who was formerly affiliated with CP-9 and is now working under CP-0, will be voiced by Tomokazu Seki. Masaya Onosaka will reprise his role as Spandam, who is also a member of CP-0. And the famous revolutionary duo of Sabo and Koala will be voicde by Tōru Furuya and Satsuki Yukino. According to the description on the official website:

The man who ate the Cat-Cat Fruit, Model Leopard. He has deadly killing skills and physical abilities.

Spandam:

In the past, he suffered grievous injuries from the Straw Hats and swore revenge. He’s the kind of man who’ll do anything to get ahead.

One Piece Film: Gold – Simultaneous English, Chinese Subtitled Release Announced for Japan

The official website for One Piece Film: Gold has announced that T-Joy Co., a Japanese distribution company, will release One Piece Film: Gold with subtitles in English and Simplified Chinese languages as a part of Yokoso! Eigakan! project. The subbed versions of One Piece Film: Gold will be available simultaneous with the official release on July 23 in select Japanese theaters. The screenings will last until Friday, August 5.

One Piece Film: Gold will be screened at the following locations:

- Shinjuku wald9 – Tokyo
- T-joy PRINCE Shinagawa – Tokyo
- Yokohama burg13 – Kanagawa
- T-Joy Kyoto – Kyoto
- Umeda burg7 – Osaka
- T-Joy Hakata – Fukuoka

It is the fourth English subbed release in the Yokoso! Eigakan! series. Prior to this, they brought the subtitled versions of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, The Anthem of the Heart, and more recently Garakowa: Restore the World to the Japanese theaters.

Yokoso! Eigakan! describes the movie’s plot as:

Set in Grantesoro, an independent country chartered by the World Government, home of the world’s greatest entertainment city where well-known pirates, Navy soldiers, and millionaires throughout the world gather in an “absolute sanctuary” that even the World Government can’t touch.

There, Luffy and the others meet the ruler of the country, the golden emperor Guild Tesoro who easily wins pirates, the Navy, and even the World Government over to his side with money. He is about to take action to satisfy his bottomless ambition which may result in major changes in power relationships in the New World…
