This is Furukawa. On April 2, we announced the details of "Nintendo Switch 2" and started the lottery for the sales on the My Nintendo Store. As a result,
we received applications from an extremely large number of people, approximately 2.2 million in Japan alone. However, this is far more than we had expected in advance, and the number of "Nintendo Switch 2" units that My Nintendo Store will be able to deliver on June 5 has been greatly exceeded. We regret to inform you that a significant number of our customers will not be able to be chosen when we announce the winners tomorrow, April 24th.
In order to avoid the hassle of re-entering the lottery for those who did not win in the first lottery, the My Nintendo Store will automatically carry over those who did not win in the first lottery to the second lottery. However, we will not be able to respond to all applications, including those for the second lottery. We deeply apologize for not being able to meet your expectations despite our advance preparations.
We are currently working to meet this demand by further strengthening our production system. As for product shipments, from tomorrow, April 24th, game retailers and online stores nationwide will begin accepting reservations or lottery sales of the "Nintendo Switch 2" console sequentially (please check each retailer's information for details). My Nintendo Store will also continue to sell the console after the release date (details will be announced at a later date). With the cooperation of our retailers, we will continue to ship the Nintendo Switch 2 so that as many "Nintendo Switch 2" products as possible will be available to everyone.
We are planning to produce and ship a considerable number of "Nintendo Switch 2" in the future. We apologize that it will take us some time to meet your expectations, and we appreciate your understanding."
