More details about the upcoming One Piece Color Walk 7 have been announced in issue 29 of Weekly Shonen Jump.
Following the tradition of the last four Color Walks, One Piece Color Walk 7 is following the norm with the title Tyrannosaurus. It will be available from July 4, along with volume 82 of the One Piece manga, for ¥1500 (+ tax). The magazine mentions that Color Walk 7 has been printed with the help of a new technology, resulting in a much better picture quality than in the previous Color Walks.
One Piece Color Walk 7 “Tyrannosaurus” will consist of 80 illustrations, a large poster, postcard, a special sticker for the first print run, and new concept designs from the New World arc that haven’t been revealed before. In addition, it will feature an interview between Eiichiro Oda and Masaya Tokuhiro, under whom Oda worked as an assistant almost twenty years ago for Taa-chan and Mizu no Tomodachi Kappaman for a year and a half. During the interview, Oda will say something he hasn’t been able to say these last 20 years.
The past four color walks followed a similar naming style based on animals who are supposedly ‘kings’, Lion for One Piece Color Walk 3, followed by Eagle, Shark, and Gorilla for the fourth, fifth, and sixth Color Walk respectively. The first One Piece Color Walk was released in 2001, which VIZ brought to U.S. in 2005. VIZ published One Piece Color Walk 2 in 2012. Unfortunately, they have not released an English version of any of the following Color Walks since then.
While there has been no official statement, it would be safe to assume that they did not perform as well in the United States as Viz might have hoped. Not to mention, One Piece Color Walks are more expensive than the regular volumes, mainly due to the colored artwork and larger size. Therefore, if you would like VIZ to bring more One Piece Color Walks to U.S., please let them know that you want more! You can start by purchasing One Piece Color Walk 1 and One Piece Color Walk 2.
