PS3 MAG (Massive Action Game)

- There is a chain of command. Squad commander, Platoon? commander etc.
- Highest level commander has an rts-ish view of things
- Commanders can assign objectives. Following commanders orders grants you DOUBLE EXP, so there is major incentive to work in teams and work well
- Example he used is that the commander ordered to have some Anti Aircraft guns to be destroyed. Destroying them allowed additional team mates to parachute in from friendly planes and basically spawn/drop behind enemy lines.
- Persistent world sounds awesome. He had very little detail on it but one of the ways this will work is basically by owning certain places, you will unlock abilities int he future. So...you own X point, Y ability unlocks the next day for you. There is a lot more to it then that but this was one example.
- Draw Distance is ridiculous, no fog of war or anything. You see as far as you possibly can.

Factions:
• Three warring factions / Private Military Corporations (Raven, Sver, Valor)

- Their power struggle is dubbed the "Shadow War"
- You must decalre your allegience to one faction when starting the game
- You can change your allegience at a later date
- Each battle you fight impacts your factions standing
- Team with the most prestige plays as the defending team
- Once your faction wins enough in a specific mode, your faction gains the contract for that mode
- Earning contracts gives you bonus points, perks, weapons, or vehicles

• Raven

- Have high-tech futuristic weapons
- Play style will appleal to fans of sc-fi shooters like Halo or Resistance

• Sver

- Weapons arsenal may not be as powerful, but players are more adaptable

• Valor

Game Modes:

• Domination (256 players)

- Attackers start scattered along the map edges and move on foot or ride in one of a few transport vehicles
- Defenders must take outer defensive positions to meet the oncoming attackers
- Each defending squad is responsible for holding specific areas of the base
- Attackers must eliminate front line defense emplacements (bunkers, turrets, tank traps)
- Once in the inner base, attackers must take down anti-aircraft batteries and radar sensors
- Destroying things like the anti-aircraft batteries allow the attacking team to launch UAVs
- Attackers must capture and hold objectives and inflict enough damage to the defenders base to win

• Acquisition (128 players)

- Escort style requiring attackers to steal two protoype transports from a rival faction and escape to the extraction point

• Sabotage (64 players)

- Attackers must infiltrate rival communication facilities and hold two control points at the same time
- Once achieved, a final demolition objective is revealed and must be destroyed to win

• Suppression (64 players)

- Pure infantry battle
- Only mode that does not contribute to the "Shadow War"

Vom Live Chat:

-Yep, you can change over to different factions, but there will be an associated EXP cost
- MAG is too massive to be a mere downloadable title
-yes, we'll have a website up where you can see stats, state of the game world, all that good stuff
-The larger maps have driveable/mannable ground vehicles that players can use tactically, as well as play a part of the 128-player map mission objective. Air vehicles are used for insertions and support strikes but aren't pilotable. The smaller maps don't have vehciles, we want to focus on the infantry-level experience for those
-MAG is strictly online, although we will have an offline training course to let you get up to speed with controls, weapons, and all the equipment!
-The biggest maps are about 1 square kilometre .. so big! The maps are based on three global regions - Alaska, Central Asia and Central america. How balanced are they - I'm gonna say perfectly balanced
- (on health system)its a "points based" system -- so you'll know what your health is exactly. Lots of different ways to "regain" health (medit, firstaid, medics, supply points, bunkers, etc.)
- The missions are whatever the leaders in the match feel is important to win. there's a tonne of different objectives to choose to hold/defend/destroy. As the game progresses the OIC, 'toon leader and squad leader will all co-ordinate to determine what the squads need to do to win. there are no pre-created missions, though there will be "default" objectives for squad leaders to make sure a squad always has something to work towards.
-we don't have any "negative xp" system -- although your rating will drop off pretty quickly if you've got a habit of team kills... Our servers will be looking at that aspect as part of the cheat prevention tech as well.
-if the leader gets killed then they'll be back at the next respawn. If they drop out, then someone on the battlefield will be promoted. That someone will still need to "opt-in" for leadership and meet the rank-requirements.
-Wow... respawn in a 256 is a complex thing to describe. Let me summarise... you spawn in "timed waves" and you spawn in with your squad. Some lucky squads get to paradrop into the combat zone or ride in on APCs.
-Oh yea, we've lots of skill progress choices; you don't really need to dedicate to a specific class either. You can specialize along a specific class or pickup unique skills and be a jack-of-all-trades.
-Yes there is a sprint button, which ties into your character's endurance. You can actively increase your sprint duraction by sinking EXP into it, if you're the kind of player that wants to get around in a hurry.

Ich dachte 60 fps? O_o?

MAG developer, Zipper Interactive are confident their 256 player online action title will arrive exclusively on the PS3 by the end of the year. Mike Gutmann, Vice President at Zipper commented:

Neues preview:

Any way you slice it, this game appears impressive. With Zipper Interactive putting everything they have into the game, Massive Action Game is poised to deliver on its title. In shear volume alone, MAG represents the functions of war that have been missing from the genre. If everything holds together and MAG truly captures the essence of war, this could be the only game I turn to when I need to align myself and prepare for war. Hoo-Rah!

gibts schon einen direct feed gameplay trailer? oder zumindest einen in gutem HD? das was ich bis jetzt gesehen hab war alles voller kompressionsartefakte
