Dragon Ball Xenoverse Stages

Selection of the battle arena! After choosing a playable character, players must decide where they would like to fight. Rightfully so, it’s why one of the reasons many fans wonder what the confirmed list of Dragon Ball Xenoverse stages are. Saiyan Island has put together a list of stages we know players will be able to engage in. Please keep in mind the names may differ in the final version of the game so we’ve included a picture of each along with what we think the name of the stage could be.

Note: It’s worth mentioning this list is a work in progress and is not final. It will be updated as more stages in Dragon Ball Xenoverse are officially shown.

Toki Toki City
West City
World Martials Arts Tournament
Space
Spaceship
Time Vault
Pod Landing
Mountains
Sacred World of the Kais
Sky
Cell Games Arena
Kami’s Lookout
Plains
Planet Namek
Planet Namek (Ruins)

Above are 15 stages. We suspect there will be a total of 24 based on an early build of the game, however, Bandai Namco has not yet officially announced the final number.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse will be making it’s way to the PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. It will offer in-game transformations, characters with the most detailed facial expressions ever seen in the Dragon Ball universe and new cel shaded graphics. Players will be able to create their own character and take it into battle to fight against familiar faces from the world of Dragon Ball and the created characters of other players online. Dragon Ball: Xenoverse is in development by Dimps (the company behind the Budokai series) and will be published by Bandai Namco Games in early 2015 worldwide. An exact date has not yet been specified for North America or Europe, however, a February 5th Japanese release date has been announced.

Presentation and Gameplay

This past weekend two events took place in the great continent of Europe and the king of anime games, Bandai Namco Games, was at both to show Dragon Ball Xenoverse! First off, they were at the London MCM Expo in the United Kingdom and secondly they were at the Milan Games Week convention in Italy. A presentation for Xenoverse took place, confirming there will be a final count of five races in the game – Human, Saiyan, Frieza’s Race, Majin, and Namekian. Also mentioned was that a total of 300 players can engage online in the hub of Toki Toki City. Take a look at the presentation in the video below. It begins at the 3:44 mark, before that, the game’s second trailer plays.

The rest of the presentation is pretty much a summary of what we already know. For example, players will be able to select a master from the manga to help train them to take on all of the missions and challenges in the game. Goku, Vegeta, or Frieza are three characters from a selection of many from the Dragon Ball manga who can be your custom character’s master. The skills you learn and the training you endure will vary depending on the master you have chosen, but each master’s style will be reflected by you in combat. The screenshots below show Goku training a custom character and then that custom character showing off the Kamehameha he learned.

Tenkaichi Budokai Preliminary and Main Event

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse, players will be able to engage in a world martial arts tournament. This isn’t just any tournament, it’s an online affair known as the Tenkaichi Budokai. Just like the Dragon Ball anime/manga series, Xenoverse will require players to fight in a preliminary round (referred to as pre-match) before engaging in battle on the main stage. The points earned during the preliminaries will determine who fights in the main event. According to Masahiro Kashino, the development producer of Dragon Ball Xenoverse:

So pre-match is basically a bunch of people applying to fight and the winners are decided based on the points that they earn during the battles. The top rankers will be able to go to the main match of the Tenkaichi Budokai tournament and depending on how we set the server we can see who is the number one fighter worldwide, who is the number one fighter in Europe, and we can even see who is the number one Frieza player. Depending on the server setting that we make, we can set up a lot of choices to find out the number one player worldwide.

10 Hour Single Player, Infinite Multiplayer

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is just a few short months away from its February 2015 release. Representatives from Bandai Namco Games have been traveling the world to show off the latest Dragon Ball adventure at various events, one of which took place in Paris, France. Dragon Ball Xenoverse game producer Masayuki Hirano was at the Paris event where French website Momotaros had the opportunity to speak with him about the game.

The big takeaway we had was the single player campaign for the game will last 10 hours, assuming you are skillful. Thanks to character creation and online, however, the multiplayer experience will bring what could be infinite replay value. It’s also mentioned the story will not include movies and specials, it will focus on the Dragon Ball Z anime sagas, beginning with the arrival of Raditz to the ending with Buu. From Saiyan Island’s understanding (and we could be wrong) that does not rule out the playable status of characters such as Broly, he could be playable, it means the single player campaign won’t cover his story. The original interview was published in French, but we have translated it to the best of our ability in English below.

Question: In the trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse, we could see the history of Dragon Ball Z could be changed from beginning to end. Is it possible to alter the stories presented in the Dragon Ball Z movies (Broly etc …)?
Masayuki Hirano: There is a confusion about Dragon Ball Xenoverse, it is not possible to change the story of Dragon Ball, instead the story of Dragon Ball was changed by forces and the player’s objective is to restore the history. The scenario presented in Dragon Ball Xenoverse is centered around the original story of Dragon Ball Z and contains the entire history of Raditz to Buu. Unfortunately, the specials and movies are not included in Dragon Ball Xenoverse.

Question: How long will the single player mode last in Dragon Ball Xenoverse?
MH: In solo mode, if the player plays and wins all the fights, we estimate the total playtime to be 10 hours. Do not forget about character creation mode and the online mode, which will extended the length of the game to what may as well be infinite.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse allows players to rediscover history by rewriting it with a character created by the player, the idea is very original. Did you speak before with Toriyama-sensei and if so, what was he thinking?
MH: For the console versions, this is in fact the first time it will be possible to create your own character. In Japanese arcades, however, there is a game called Dragon Ball Heroes which allows players to do the same. We, of course, had the permission of Toriyama-sensei and it is acceptable for us to touch and change the world.

Question: Will there be a balance between the characters who clash online? For example, is it possible to win by playing with a character like Yamcha and Krillin?
MH: We worked on balancing the characters, but of course it is obvious that it will be challenging to win against Goku with Krillin or Yamcha. However those playing with a skill, can accomplish such a feat.

Question: Do you play video games, and if so which ones?
MH: I currently play Destiny and Battlefield when I can. I love video games.

As expected, the Prince of all Saiyans makes others look like mosquitoes in his Great Ape form. Of course, even the toughest enemies have a weakness. In Dragon Ball Xenoverse, the latest action allows you to aim for his tail, and one you grabbed Vegeta’s tail, you can have your fun throwing him which deals a large damage.

Bin gespannt ob mich das Kampfsystem ähnlich überzeugen kann wie das von Naruto Storm.
Das fand ich alleine schon wegen des Chakra sammelns genial, eine Aktion die auf absoluten nichts tun beruht.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse: New Gameplay, Over 75 Minutes with Bandai Namco

Joseph Kartje (Community Manager), Brandon Williams (Localization Producer), and Jason Enos (Marketing Director) from Bandai Namco Games America, yesterday, hosted a segment on Twitch where they gave a preview of Dragon Ball Xenoverse lasting over 75 minutes! This includes showing off character customization, fighting mechanics, 1-vs-1 local multiplayer, and a few characters duking it out in new gameplay! Christopher Sabat, the voice of Vegeta, Piccolo, and many others from the Dragon Ball Z anime also joined the crew over at Bandai Namco through the magic of technology.

It’s worth noting Bandai Namco is aware fans are very interested in a demo, however, they can’t promise anything at this time. Dragon Ball Xenoverse is just two months away from launch and if we had to guess, if there is no demo, it’s possible the reason may be due to developer time constraints.

Also, Dragon Ball Xenoverse will have a minimum of 70 playable characters. As of today, almost 40 have been confirmed. Some characters will occupy multiple slots, while others will not. First Form Frieza, Final Form Frieza, and Full Power Frieza for example, take up three slots. Goku, Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan 2 Goku, and Super Saiyan 3 Goku occupy one slot because the Super Saiyan transformation is considered an ultimate attack.
