Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: Training Mode, Dragon Ball Super, Transformations

From the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, CA (USA) is new information on Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2! In a live streamed interview with GameSpot, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 producer Masayuki Hirano revealed a few new tidbits on the game.

- In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1, players did not have the ability to fly in the hub city of Toki Toki City. In Xenoverse 2’s new hub, Conton City, players will start off unable to fly, but as they progress in the game, they will gain that ability. The reason players are unable to start off with flying in Conton City is because the developers want players to search the city in a specific order. Once they’ve gone through that order and attained a certain progress level, they will unlock the ability to fly so they can get to new places that would otherwise be unreachable. It should be worth noting, the ability to fly in Conton City is different than battle. We at Saiyan Island assume players will always be able to fly in battle, as expected.
- It’s rumored there will be hoverboards, vehicles, and Nimbus Clouds for players to fly on. Hirano-san mentioned he is unable to address if this is true or not at this time.
- Fans asked for a training mode in Xenoverse 1. Developer Dimps will deliver as there will be a training mode called “Training School” in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 started development before Dragon Ball Super began to air in July 2015 so it’s unclear how much of the game will cover content from the series.
- It’s rumored there will be more transformations in Xenoverse 2. Hirano-san mentioned he can’t comment on this at this time and for fans to please wait for more details on what and how many transformations there will be in the game.
- There will be new online gameplay features. It was not elaborated what new features will be in the game, however. Bandai Namco has revealed online multiplayer will be for between 2 to 6 players.
- Local multiplayer will not have split screen. The camera will be similar to Xenoverse 1. There will be many more stages in local multiplayer with the camera adjusted to fit all action on a single screen. The specific amount of stages can’t be revealed at this time, but Hirano-san mentions fans will be satisfied with the number.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: Import Your Time Patroller

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced players will be able to use their Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1 save to import their Time Patroller into Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. The statute in the screenshot below of the red-haired ‘Future Warrior’ represents where the player’s imported character. In otherwords, rather than the ‘Future Warrior’ standing there, if you import your Xenoverse 1 save, the character you created will be standing there. Apparently, the Xenoverse 1 Time Patroller will play an important role in Xenoverse 2, however, it was not elaborated how at this point in time. It’s also unclear if PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners will be able to import their save to PS4 or Xbox One, but as soon as we find out more information on this, we hope to let you know right here on Saiyan Island!

Story, Races, Generations, Items, Online

The 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) has come to an end and at Saiyan Island, it’s all been about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2! Mirian Botton (Reporter at Bandai Namco) recently spoke with Denny Chiu (Director, Communications & Social Media at Bandai Namco) and Masayuki Hirano (Producer at Bandai Namco) about the latest Dragon Ball MMO/RPG/action-fighter.

- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will have English and Japanese voice overs. The American version of the game will have subtitles in English, Spanish, and Brazilian-Portugese (along with French). Bandai Namco would have liked to have voice overs in other languages as well, however, the development schedule was unable to allow for it so only English and Japanese were included.
- There will be a Future Goku in the game. (Although we at Saiyan Island think Bandai Namco may have accidentally said that and meant Future Gohan from Dragon Ball Z Special Movie:The History of Trunks)
- The races from Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1 will return to Xenoverse 2, but there will be some differences. More information will be revealed at a later date
- The challenge working on Xenoverse 2 is how to make it different and deliver a new experience from Xenoverse 1.
- There will be DLC and free updates in Xenoverse 2. Not much can be said at this time, but Bandai Namco is focusing on free updates because they want players to play the game for a really long time.
- Hirano-san said he was able to accomplish a lot with Xenoverse 1. He is going to able to accomplish everything he wants with Xenoverse 2 within the game itself and if there is something that is unable to be addressed, then it will be with DLC.
- In terms of story, new players and veterans of Xenoverse will be able to enjoy it.
- The story of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 takes place a few years after Xenoverse 1
- Those who played Xenoverse 1 will be able to transfer their character to Xenoverse 2. That character is considered a hero in Xenoverse 2 and will play a part in the story. Some (but not all) items and costumes will also be transferred over.
- The reason Mira and Towa were not killed in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1’s ending was because Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama did not want them to be killed. They were created by Toriyama-sensei and were set to appear in other Dragon Ball games so they couldn’t kill them off.
- In Xenoverse 1, there were random item/attack/costume drops. Due to immense fan feedback, this system will be changed for Xenoverse 2. More details will be revealed in the future.
- The number of DLC Packs for Xenoverse 1 was planned during development. Once the base game was finished, the developers realized there was a little more they wanted to do so that’s when they worked on the DLC’s. There was nothing intentionally left out to hold on for another project.

Cooler Base/Final Form Confirmed, Turles on Namek

A new scan for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is here! It reveals a few interesting tidbits of information! The story of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 takes two years after the end of Dragon Ball Xenoverse. You (your new Xenoverse 2 character) have joined The Future Warrior (your Xenoverse 1 Time Patroller), Supreme Kai of Time, Old Kai, Time Patrol Trunks, and Tokitoki (the bird) in the Time Vault ready to stop evil.

One of those evils is Turles from Dragon Ball Z Movie 3: The Tree of Might. He has arrived on Planet Namek and has the fruit from the Tree of Might, which gives its consumer a massive, but temporary power increase that could defeat Frieza. He has the Ginyu Force (Jeice and Burter) on his side.

If you recall the screenshot from last week) (pictured below) of what looked like Cooler, well, it is Cooler and he seems to be…on your side!? The scan shows Cooler in his Final Form attacking Frieza (his base form is shown as art). For what reason, that’s unknown, but as soon as we learn more, we hope to let you know right here on Saiyan Island!

As for the screenshot in the scan with your Xenoverse 2 character, he is simply saluting Zarbon. Not much else is revealed there. Guru Elder Kai is drawing out your Xenoverse 2 character’s dormant power and unlocking his potential.
